My 2014 needs a replacement passenger side sun visor. This visor has a lighted mirror. I took it apart but was unable to get the plastic electrical plug apart. How do you unplug this piece?
At the most, it may have a locking tab on it that needs to be released. I've had mine off the car for some stuff I've done and don't recall the exact configuration on the plug.
I tried what appeared to be a release tab but nothing happened.
Sometimes you wish you had 3 hands. 1 to hold the bottom part of the connector, 1 for the screwdriver and then one more to pull the connector top off when you release the tab
Some of the GM connectors are tricky, you have to ascertain where it splits apart and what locks them together
Let us know how you make out, if I have to I can go pull mine out and take a picture of it....if I can find a torx bit at work!
That little triangle in the middle of the channel at the top is the lock Insert a small screwdriver into the connector to release the lock while trying to pull both ends of the connectorapart The small portion of the connector should slide out This the lock, it will click back in when you re-assemble with the new sun visor connector
WOW I had been trying to push that little tab down. I was afraid if I pried under, where you did, it would break the plastic.
Thank you for your "above and beyond" effort to help me out.
Have a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year.
It’s pretty robust, should be ok.
‘I probably unlocked it 3 or 4 times taking those pics, really need 3 hands.
No problem! Between the car and Harley I have to sometimes call on my friend that has a lot more electrical connector experience than me! I can fight one for hours and then he unlocks it in seconds.
‘Same to you and yours Mr. Jones...
Just a quick reply to this to share recent findings. Thanks to those that gathered this original content.
The part number is still valid for black non suede homelink visor. Of course when ordering don't use a LT1 VIN as that part number doesn't match as it didn't come with the homelink. A point I missed initially. Use an LT2 VIN or above.
The wire plug was attached to my visor. I assume that was because I have a lit vanity mirror in my visor. I assume if you have one of these you will be removing the wire plug from the visor and not the holding position shown in the video.
