Default The shutter

Hello everyone, how you're all having a wonderful Saturday, so I purchased my 2016 z51 2lt about 3 months ago at at 29k so I've wondered around the forums over the months and I remember the dreaded shutter, from what I has seen its 100% caused from AFM, anyhow I was reading s thread and they were re talking about it happening while driving...anyways just recently while idle or in M mode or D or P, I'll get this shudder like the entire car shudders it does not do it while I'm driving move just while sitting...anyways I feel like 2014 this should all be well known issues and all should I purchase a range device, should i be concerned i have a 1500 mile trip ahead thanks guys.

The _shudder_ while sitting still is because it's a high-performance engine and they do not idle like a Nissan or Honda. The _shudder_ people speak of that's a problem has been the autos with automatic transmissions - BUT - not all cars have the problem. Proportionately most do not. My buddy has more than 80K trouble free miles on his, my neighbor more than 60K...... while mine's a MN7 I have more than 93,000 essentially trouble free miles on my car.... enjoy your ride. Quit fretting.

The shudder is a defect in how the car reacts to the AFM changing form 4 cylinder Eco mode to 8 cylinder mode if your car has the A-8 transmission...It is not an issue directly related to only C-7 A-8 Corvettes...but has been a common problem with all GM built vehicles with the A-8 transmission..I have had the shudder and it seems to have been taken care of with the latest triple flush of the tranny fluid under warranty with no questions asked...just a simple computer assisted drive with a Chevy tech behind the wheel. My dealer was very helpful...and willing to please. I have a 2015 Z-51 with the auto -8...What you are describing is not the common symptom of the shudder as it happens with low rpm shifts and in between coasting when the sort of feeling hits...kind of like a subtle rumble strip in the road for me is what it felt like...mashed the gas and it went away...I had 24 k miles on mine when it became evident. Many here on the forum swear by the Range device...this is computer related device that simply plugs into the diagnostic port of the car and won't let the car's computer go between 4 and 8 cylinders...always staying in 8...It sounds to me like you are experiencing a rough idle which could be nothing if you haven't "felt" the car very long...or could be from some "not so good" fuel...or a loose spark plug wire..or even a bad/ going bad battery...lots of things can cause a rough and kind of sort of slight wobbly feeling idle, but not the shudder. The best of luck man!

Mine doesn't shudder, not completely calm at a light. If mine shuddered I would take it in.
It's been reported that the cure is a triple flush, search forum for it.

My 2014 I drive in Touring. Doesn't do the Ecco mode

And no more triple flush. The new fluid from feb 19 forward is non hydroscopic. The old fluid retained moisture and caused ALL THE SHUDDERING.

The OP is not asking about shudder ....while moving , he has a rough idle..

I also dont by the hydroscopic BS ... transfluid , lock up converters etc all have been around for a long time and now all of a sudden trans fluid is hydroscopic and causing issues ....
There is TCM update that goes along with the flush to reduce the pulsing the TCM commands the converter to do. .. hmmmmmm

I agree. sixty one years of production and they just now learned about this fluids composition and characteristics? WTH were those engineers and designers doing all this time???? The range device is a waste of money. I gave mine away to a friend ...

Took my 16, Z51 in for the triple flush. It helped alot made the shifts much firmer and positive. Still had a very lite shutter at highway speed in 8th gear. Installed a Ranger device and it went away.
Ranger works great for me.

The range is not a waste of money, works well if you are experiencing the beginning signs of shudder and keeps it from ever progressing by stopping the engine from going into 4 cylinder mode .

I have been following your problems , I dont believe that it's your torque converter or trans ......proven by the fact that nothing you that had been done has fixed your issue

You need to push the dealer harder to look for other causes ...

how much of your firmer shifts were due to the TCM and clutch relearn that goes along with the flush .....

My girlfriend has a 2019 Stingray with the A8. I installed a "Range" device that keeps the car in V8 mode all the time. Is there now no worry about the dreaded shudder? Her car was purchased brand new in May of 2018, so it may be AFTER the cars that had the problems.

I have a 2017 Stingray, but mine has the 7spd manual...........so no shudder issues.

What you are calling shudder , is NOTshudder . You are describing a rought idle . And no the range will not help a rough idle ..... shudder does not happen sitting still

Corvettes idle rough , some more than than others , if you dont have the ability to check the car out yourself to see if what you are feeling is normal then you should bring it to the dealer to check out
Dave

OKAY saying that the C7 idles roughly is bs, I've had it three months as daily use it's never done this until last night...so what is the explanation there?

Thuggish , it's impossible to diagnose what is wrong with your car over a forum with your lack of command of the English Language ....

So instead of insulting me ......here is an idea , why dont you take it somewhere and get the car looked at by a professional
Even if we could tell you what was wrong , I doubt that you have the skills to fix it ....
I am done with you ......
