Some people think Blockit is great, I thought it was a waste of time.
If you're older it might be blocking higher tones that you already can't hear anyway. I know that my two sons, around thirty, can hear high tones that I can't at age seventy, and my hearing is pretty good.
(One of the pastors at my church is a woman whom everyone likes, but some of the older parishoners complain that they can't understand her sermons, a result of this same high frequency hearing loss.)
It cut the sound out about 2%. I didn't notice much of a difference, but my fiance says she noticed a difference. I bought it for her. To keep her from complaining, but now she doesn't even get in the Corvette with me anymore.

I had the Block-It in my C6 and it' didn't make a huge difference, but it did make a noticeable difference to me.
First thing I noticed is I didn't have to turn the music up as loud.
When I bought my C7, before doing anything to it, IMO I thought it was slightly quieter than the C6.
The new Block-It mats are thicker than the Original ones and have some added "optional" sound deadening choices.
For me, since I already had a Block-It mat from my C6, I trimmed the edges to fit the C7 and later added a 1/4" thick piece of blue foam underneath.
Personally I'm happy with the results for what it is being quick and easy to do.
Bottom line IMO, the only way to reduce the noise for a huge difference is take out the interior and install a complete sound deadening kit.
YMMV

A good point, thanks. I'm several years older than you so my perception of the Blockit mat (no sound reduction noticed) might indeed be effected by crummy hearing.
However, I also took measurements with a sound meter app in my smartphone, using a scale that emphasizes the speech frequencies. It too showed no improvement. I started a thread regarding my experiment, about a year ago.
I guess the most important factor is what you actually hear. If the Blockit makes your car and your ears sound quieter, that's what counts.
I bought Block It for my new GS a few months ago. I have tinnitus, so I am sensitive to noise more than most people. I bought the Block It Package with the mats that go behind the seats and for the hatch area. I also put a heavy duty Lloyd’s Mat over it. I thought there was an improvement in be able to talk comfortably and listening to music and podcasts. I also thought it took enough edge off for my tinnitus to make the expense worthwhile.
