I am thinking about getting my windshield tinted with Ceramic 70 Solar Guard. Has anyone used this Product. I am also wanting to find out how or if it affect you HUD. I am concerned it could wash it out. Any information would be a help.
I doubt it was the exact same tint that you're describing, but on my previous Subaru STi, my local tint guy talked me into letting them do my windshield. I wound up hating it. There was a slight blue cast to everything which kind of bothered me and things just didn't seem as sharp and in focus. The windshield got a crack in it so I replaced it and obviously didn't have them put the tint back. Just my .02

I tried it too and immediately had it removed, didn't cut the glare. That was on the C5, on the C7 I had them put a strip along the top of the windshield that used to have a factory tint.
My windshield has 50% UV tint. Not sure of the brand but the HUD works fine and I have no other issues such as night driving or other things mentioned in this thread.

IR 80% is not blue and perfect for the windshield, I have had it on both my C7's and will have it on every vehicle I own from now on.. Cuts almost 50% of the heat. UVA and UVB and has no effect on the HUD... It is a little blurry the very first day and so clear after it dries you can not tell it's there...
Click on specs at the bottom right... Great stuff... The hard part is finding an installer that can put it on correctly..
I'd argue that the windshield is the largest piece of glass in the car. From factory, UVA and UVB are blocked. What's not blocked is Infrared (IR) which causes heat. Adding a good IR blocking film (70%VLT or more) instead of thinking of "tint" will significantly reduce heat transmission. Most good ceramics will do it.
It’s not for me given I’ve had two windshields replaced because of large cracks from rock hits. The cost of the tinting would have been a complete waste of money.
I have 20% on the sides and back windows with 35% on the windshield. Is it legal, no. But I'm willing to accept the risk. It wouldn't my first or last tint ticket. I have a long history of tint on my cars. When I was younger my old truck had 4% on the sides back and top strip on the front with the bottom of the windshield done in 20%. This was too dark. If the road markings weren't bright the road would disappear at night when it rained. Also, it was a pain making left turns on dark roads. I would have to roll the window so that I didn't miss the driveway.
I did clear windshield tint on 2 of my cars and it was, and still is, fantastic. Kills the heat while driving big time but doesn't have the down sides of not being able to see. The stuff my tint guy uses is a 3m product
