The transmission was replaced in my 15 several months before I bought it. My local dealer spotted the broken chassis bolt, brought it to my attention but said the dealer that installed the transmission needs to correct it. Well the selling dealer, Nathan Hunt motors "disavowed any knowledge of such action" and would not repair it. I just brought it to my local guy who said that whoever installed the tranny used air tools and didn't bother to first hand tighten the bolt and stripped the crap out of it. He got the broken bolt out and had to retap the chassis threads but the new bolt is in. What kind of mechanic breaks a damn chassis bolt and not bring it to anyones attention? A DEALERS mechanic that's who.

Sad that the dealer that did the work basically said tough luck, but also not good that the other dealer wouldn’t fix it for you. Hard to find a good dealership these days.

Given the shudder issue I really can't blame dealer number two for steering clear. The old adage " you touch it,you own it" comes to mind. I wonder if Rick Hendrick would like to know how his technician operates?
That's terrible. I'd like to throw that bolt at the tech's head. This is why I DIY when possible. But in cases like yours where DIY is impossible due to warranty, find that one dealer you trust and don't look back. I'm very lucky, my guy is a vette certified tech, engine specialist and has been at the same dealership for 23 years now.

I bet he would if that crap happened on any one of his NASCAR team cars!
Its people like this (the mechanic that broke it) with no integrity or conscience that **** me off daily!
Glad you got it fixed and nothing bad happened in the meantime.
So this is the infamous "monkey wrench" guy. I've been looking for him! He has messed up so many of my projects
Stories like this is why I fear the dealer. Its really not their fault - the techs are likely under paid and overworked, or they just don't give a hoot...
A mechanic at a dealer broke the case on my C5 back in the day, they just returned the car to me. Of course I found the issue because it leaked all over my garage floor. You should always check the work once your car is completed.

Which case did they break? That sucks !

I agree. In hindsight, having used launch control three times,I'm just happy the rear end didn't just drop out.

In this situation the tech just didn't care.
A little known fact about dealership warranty repairs is that its the tech who subsidizes the repair, more so than any other party.
So the guy could easily have been in a position where he was caught between paying his bills, and doing a good job.
We can see the result of his choice.
Dealer broke off an exhaust manifold bolt in a TransAm I had way back in the day. I found out a year later when I developed an exhaust leak. Of course, they denied it... even though they had worked on that manifold (I can't recall what the actual work was) and no one else touched the car. So it seems nothing much has changed in 30 years. I fixed that one myself.
