I purchased this inexpensive ($12) trunk organizer when I got my Grand Sport 2 years ago. It holds up. Very useful to keep things from sliding around in the back. I'm posting the following:
1. A picture of this from my trunk.
2. A close-up of one of the two attachment straps I added because it didn't quite stretch to the tie downs (GS vs. Stingray width issue maybe). Easy to do using those small straps that come with those cheap key ring carabiners that are often given away at trade shows. I bent the ring and angled it down, and it's simple to take off when you need the space...you just unhook two of the ring hooks and the netting collapses onto the mat. No need to unhook the whole thing.
3. A YouTube video link showing it better than my pic. I never bought the secondary (closest to the driver) netting, just the 3 part net. Great for groceries, jackets, etc.
Hey, I'm not selling anything. Just thought I'd post something that some may find useful.

After-market strap added. The loop with the blue bead comes with the organizer net.
in my Stingray and the tie downs reach Maybe they make different widths? Because I am pretty sure the GS is not any wider on the inside. If so then Lloyds trunk mats would come in different sizes and the targa top latches would need to be relocated. So its just the rear quarter panels that flare out further along with the rear bumper that give the GS its wide body.
Like the video I moved the other cargo net to the front of the storage area, this way you can reach it from the seats. Handy for items like a hat or umbrella.
In lieu of all the ugly ropes / strings. This tote or any container with two simple velcro strips on the bottom , holds it firmly to the carpet Open and store the same things when shopping or store things and place the top on it etc. Cargo strings are the last resort.

That is way uglier. I've been using the OP's solution for a few years. I undo the two front straps and push the whole net to the back of the trunk when not in use. It can't be seen in this position.
Edit: bonus points for not shredding the carpet from the Velcro when removing the tub whenever carrying larger items. And are those strings I see in your picture?
I bought one of those nets, but I really don't like clipping it to the plastic catches in the speaker trim covers. I feel like a gallon of milk would be enough to rip them out if I took a corner the wrong way.
The export cars had extra D-rings in the floor and they came with a cargo net from the factory. If the parts weren't a couple hundred dollars, I'd retrofit it into my car.

No strings, no shedding of carpet, just enough velcro to hold in place. First leak prevention of milk or bleach wins Top is optional . $ 8.50

I prefer to keep my oil drain pan in the garage rather than in the back of my car.

I've broken one... but it wasn't due to items in the net - it happened during re-installation of the net after storing the targa. I guess I just pulled at the wrong angle which snapped the clip - as noted its just a small piece of plastic. I've only had 3 things actually break (so far ) on my C7 and this silly clip was one of them.

That was pretty much the only thing the prior owner of my car had fixed under warranty. That's part of why I don't want to mess with them.

Glad to know its not just me then I sourced a bag of three of them off eBay for $25.
Part # 0837795 or 23438863 - its used in several other GM vehicles.

I use a GM C6 cargo net that I kept when I traded in my '08. It's over-sized compared to the C7 cargo net allowing for larger boxes, multiple grocery bags etc. Holds everything very securely as the C7 net does, it just holds more.
Fear of breaking those clips is exactly why I added the extra straps, to take some of the tension off the clips. Yes, the item as bought stretches to the clips, now that I think about it (been 2 years), but that mod reduced the tension. I've put all kinds of stuff in the nets and no problem so far. But I think the biggest advantage of the net vs. the hard shell container is that the container takes up space that you may need when you want to carry something else (suitcase, golf bag, amazon boxes you return and then want to keep doing errands and need to confine stuff but you already took the container out to fit in the boxes, etc.). The net just falls flat to the mat. The only downside is that sometimes little things (buttons on a jacket for example) get caught in the net and it takes a second to free. But, yes, to each their own. Glad we can come up with creative solutions that work for ourselves. The container and velcro is a nice idea.
