Brake squeek
I used the procedure outlined for brake burnishing in the Owner's Manual IF you are going to track. (For whatever reason GM calls in burnishing- but lots of info if you google "brake pad bedding.") BUT no need for 25 hard brakingcycles! 5 or 6 cycles should do it.
Now if you have a Z51, Grand Sport or Z06 those performance brakes is driven too easily will build up an uneven coating with time. Solution is to brake very aggressively occasionally. If fact I replaced the OERM pads on my 2014 Z51 and my current Grand Sport with Carbotech 1521 pads that not only stop great with cold or hot pads but have much less dust. I now wash mt wheels only when I wash the car. With my 2014 when I lived with the OEM pads for 6 months I cleaned the wheels every ~200 miles. If not that dust not only looked bad but was pitting my black wheels!
RE a brake pedal squeak, their is a pivot and could spray a silicon lub in the area.

only have 5800 miles on the car, wondering if the bedding will help
Yep Dealer will remove brake pads, Put on some lub on the edges as GM will pay them for that. If it works it will only last for a short time but will return if you have uneven brake pad material on rotors. Bedding is worth a try, worked for me and others.
And you must occasionally apply the brakes very aggressively or that uneven brake pad material may develop. Look up brake pad bedding on google. The dealer cannot do that for you. Nor would GM pay them IF they did.

Usually bed new pads so 5800 miles means nothing. If you drive the car like a grocery getter, could be the cause, try it.
