Ive seen it go both ways...Lots of people have received a Safelight manufactured windshield and were pleased with it and their work.. other insist on OEM... If it was me, I would go OEM, I believe Safelight can intervene to get you an OEM through your insurance company.. Not 100% sure of that.
Good luck

The main thing is that it doesn't have any distortion and if you have a hud then that part has to work correctly. There are some bad windshields out there for sure. I had 3 windshields replaced in one of my vehicles because of distortion. The first one they installed and I turned around after going one block. They ordered another one and it was just as bad in another spot. They switched suppliers and the next one was fine.
With safelight, they say it has to go in their shop for a C7, they wont come to you at you location because it is a big job on a C7 and requires a specially skilled tech to install, I have nothing to do with Safelight
Just some data that Ive researched

Safelight has their own brand, sourced by a supplier that is certified.. they are as good as OEM, but without the OEM logo. The Safelight is a cheaper windshield because of volume. I didn't mean that safelight has their own glass manufacturing plant. Like GM, they award a contract to a certified supplier to get a cheaper price by offering to purchase a certain amount of glass. GM does the same thing with their certified GM parts.
AS far as being just like any other car.. it is Not .. you wont find all of the electronics that a C7 has in their windshield frame above and behind the rear view mirror, all of that stuff has to be removed, most windshields can be done in under an hour.. a Corvette requires special skills, training and time. I was told that it is never done at your location.. and only in their shop. because of the skill required and the extra effort with the electronics.

Bill , Safelite does not have their own brand .... take my word for it and .. check my profile before you answer lol
I had safelite replace two windshields on my Stingray, and my insurance company, Progressive, OKd them to install the OEM. And, yes, they require the Vette to be in their shop. Mine was a $100 deductible. I don't know how good the non OEM windows are, but since it was my option. I naturally chose the OEM.
I had my windshield replaced a month ago by Safelite at my residence with OEM glass, on a 2019 GS. They took the old glass off pretty easily, but had to seat the new windshield twice, and yes they changed the sealant for the second attempt. The technician that did the install said they normally will do OEM if the owner asks but only for the first 3 years. That my be a local thing, or not, who knows. We are getting all kinds of different stories for essentially the same service.
I had a gt3 done, i insisted oem and insisted it be done at the porsche dealer. They contracted the job to someone and that guy had trouble pulling the a-pillar cover (to attach the electronics). So i was sure glad the glass guy could walk over and pull in a porsche guy.. hope this helps. It turned out great. Mike’s Auto Glass in Tampa fwiw.
