Default NavTool install 2014 C7

Well got the latest NavTool with apple car play and first I must say it has been a struggle what a poorly documented product ! I have had to email them 4 times to clarify wiring details as non of the instruction clearly show what they sent to me. The camera from them has a small instruction paper the size of a post card thats worthless too. Ok so much for my whining ! A few questions I have is #1 will I have to install their mic even though our cars with Navagation have a mic? Does their Apple Car Play have the text reading and voice texting just like factory GM? (I guess I assumed that ) Also a FYI when you buy their camera you will not get a mounting bracket & if they send you a video cable that has a short red wire coming from each yellow connector it's not used. And oh ya dont worry about the 4 wire plug on the main harness that is not used also.................(no mention or pics of these two items)
Big thanks to all the guys including Elmer for posting on this for install without that it would have been a real Cluster.................

Well I got it to finally come on they never told anything about pressing and holding finger in the upper left corner of screen, that links to their module. Then you press a icon that brings on apple car play, so it's not automatic like factory car play. I sent one voice message and that worked received one and that worked. Played some music switch to a camera screen nothing worked there finally figured out to press bottom of the screen to get back out of this one. Now there is no sound being played from anything while in car play. Back to factory have sound no problem. For $549.00 it sure isn't what I expected and has been the worst install experience of anything thus far! Hopefully they will have a answer of whats going on.

Default Nav tool

I, like a whole lot of other people on here suffered trying to first get the NavTool through all the trials and tribulations from the company and then getting it to work. There was a whole lot of hand wringing and anger directed at them for lying and missed deadlines. The install was no picnic either and I think with out Elmer's help we all might not have got them to work at all. It definitely was a group effort. Having said that when the smoke cleared it worked!! I installed a front camera and two side cameras that came on when you put on your directional. It worked great for me I'd have to say till I sold the car in November for a new 19 GS.
Good luck!!

Woof! $549 for the Navtool now? Dayem!

Well, if I got the one that I installed 3 years ago the cost is February 2020 Special Sale Price: $329.99

I don't need Apple Car Play I got the front camera and an HDMI adaptor to the phone and that's all I needed.

yes the whole thing is lack of documentation, its working now but it was like a friggin combination lock to figure out. One thing is it does not work like a factory Apple Car Play which is just plug your phone in and it comes up on the screen. You have to touch and hold in the upper left corner of the screen, which then brings up a screen generated by their module. From this screen you choose a icon that really makes no sense that its for Car Play, after pressing it that takes you to a normal apple car play screen. Oh but wait now you wont have sound, they give you a 3mm audio dummy jack that they tell you nothing about that you need to put in your aux input in center console, your factory display should recognize it as aux input. Also if you want Siri and other voice functions to work along with factory you need to put their mic in also.

I will take some pictures of screens and document this and either post it here or tag it along with Elmers. There is nothing tough about it but you need a decent guide that tells you something.

Instructions can be useful! Some products are one hell of a challenge!

Holy cow, is it really worth all the trouble? You guys know you can just connect the phone via blue-tooth and get music, nav, and voice commands with your phone and not lose the voice commands of the GM car? The only think you have to do is touch the screen of the phone to see the map instead of seeing it on the console. Is that really worth $550 and all this trouble? Did I miss something?

What year car do you have?

The OP has a 2014, as do I.

Well the saga continues ...................just wake the car up and there is a buzzing feed back in speakers radio not even on. pull their dummy plug out of the aux jack and it quits, or unplug the interface wiring harness from the screen module and it quits. Tech support is so terrible by chat they leave you hanging with half assed answers. I have messed with this for over a week at night and I just discovered that they have a 14 day return policy. This sucks about as bad as anything I have ever dealt with and I bought all the crap to I pone mirror also, installed a HDMI/ USB port in place of the 12volt receptacle in console, made nice camera mount all that done up front wires ran.

Like I said previously and would like to expand on is the lack of clear documentation.A few simple pictures some clear wording and a good diagram and they would reduce the calls/chats and BS by 75%. The techs in the online chats type gibberish at the best! Today they told me they had 75 tech chatting/ answering the phone and 200 call backlog, whats that tell you! I have a email into Elmers contact and thus far alI I hear is crickets. The whole Apple Car pal has become a debauchery, the cameras only might not be too bad. Like I told them in chats and in Email who would accept a buzzing feedback in their 10 speaker Bose system on a $75k plus Corvette................ it's sheer insanity!

I have a 2014 without nav. Can you get maps or Waze to show up on your screen using Bluetooth? I have not been able to, and that would be the thing I would like to do mostly. Even more than having a factory nav, which I usually end up decided they are useless and outdated. I would buy the Navtool in a minute but a lot if the installation issues I have been reading about are keeping me away.

your phone will need to be tethered to the Nav Tool unit with the lighting cord. Then google maps will be on the screen from your phone.

Need the Navtool to do that.
