I set up my new portable single post lift last weekend. It is an Amgo Hydraulics SML-6. I didn't have room for a 4 post lift and a 2 post lift would have been very tight for parking in the other bay.
Need the 2x12 boards to get over the lift First time lifting my son's 2003 G35
It has to be movable or it would rip the skirts off and it would be dangerous to try and get over those base arms!
I think he drives onto the wood first in order for the hoist to clear the skirts and then slides the hoist under the car.

I can't see how he moves the lift before he drives the car into the garage. Looks like he drives the car over the lift that is why the 2 X 12's are there. You can't move the lift once you lower the car the way he has it positioned here.

I drive the car over the lift with the 2 x 12s in place and the lift positioned just as shown in the first photo. It clears the side skirts. I ended up screwing the 2 x 12s down to the floor so the don't move around out of position. If I am not planning to use the lift I will remove the two sliding arms closest to the lift post to have more room.
I bought it from Redline Engineering. Brand is Amgo. Model SML-6.
Thanks for the information I have one more question though. Is the unit easily moved around because I could store it in a corner of my building and bring it out when I need it. Or does it have to stay put?
INCHES, I would have trouble sleeping at night ! Good thing you have the 'Vette on top! Please straighten out your license plate.

Since the Vette height is set with the lift's locking pawl im not worried about it. Ha! Thanks for pointing put the licence plate on my beater! I'll have to fix it.
I don’t like the idea of driving over the legs of that lift every single time you drive the car, with or without the assistance of the 2x12s. As long as you like it that’s what counts and it is a different option for people to consider.

So far it hasn't been any trouble driving over the base of the lift. I just go very slow. I have to go slow anyway with my garage having a tight 90 degree turn from the front driveway.
