Default Stripe removal

I put the wide center hood stripe on my car a few weeks ago and while it is bubble free and overall looks great, the area where it meets the hood vent isn't what I would like it to be. I did not remove the vent as it never mentioned doing that in the installation instructions. I ordered a new stripe but have a dilemma. To remove the stripe requires a heat gun or hair dryer both of which I have. The dilemma is that there is a sheet of cleartastic UNDER the stripe that I do not want to remove and I'm afraid a heat gun will remove both the stripe AND clear covering.

Any thoughts or has anybody done this before>

Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll sacrifice the front portion of the new stripe so it matches exactly.

Heat gun or hair dryer is not necessary. I see that you’re down in Georgia. Let it set out in the sun for a few hours and it’ll peel right off. The Cleartastic could still come up, however, doubtful. I’ve even peel off stripes in the past without heat. I’d try that first...

I'll try that next weekend.

If you want to SURE not to end up removing both the stripe and the underlying plastic, do as cuspid suggested... just saying...
