Default Bad injector seals...

Got my 2015 Z51 Stingray back today from the dealer's. Brought it in last week after having it sit all winter on a trickle charger but with a smell of gas fumes. It was pretty bad, the whole house stunk. Anybody else have bad injector seals? $1,000 to fix, no warranty. Luckily it was 70 degrees today for transport!

Sure hope mine does not go bad at that repair price.

No problems so far on my '14, but I only have 4500 miles on the car.

So the dealer confirmed its bad injector seals and not the gas tank flange cracking defect which causes a garage to smell like gas?

I'd expect it is more a time than use issue... perhaps, more an "unuse" issue.

They checked the TSB for the leaking flange, it was not that. Unfortunately it was the injector seals, they replaced all 8. I have 19,300 miles on the car. But it was just sitting on the trickle charger when it happened in the garage. More labor consuming than parts for sure.

Haven't had mine go bad but I did replace them on some lt4 injectors I was installing. Easy process but you do need the seal installation tool which was around $200.00 IIRC and seals were about 30.00. $1000 seems extreme but it is a bit time consuming. Glad they got it sorted out

Just curious, would bad injector seals on a non running engine emit odour? Im not saying the OP didnt get it fixed properly but just curious.

There's lots of pressure in the rail after shutdown which could push fuel past a bad top seal.

Well, it sure did! We were dying in the house with the extreme odor, why I thought it was the TSB that gave 10 years/100,000 miles in a letter to some of us. Wasn't that.

Direct port injectors are a lot harder to get to than say an LS motor but you will see from this TSB replacing the o rings is what they should do

I don't know, they just said all 8 injector seals/o-rings were bad. And the odor was pretty bad. Car is home on trickle charger now and no odor.
