Went to drive my 2019 GS today and got 5 minutes down the road and the power steering failed. Got a warning light on the dash. Drove it home and struggled to park the car in my garage. I disconnected the battery for an hour or so thinking that it would reset a code. Nothing. After I made an appointment at my dealer, I went back out an hour later and the car was fine. Drove it to the store with no issues. I see on line that Chevy had issues with the PS on 2017 Camaros and Corvettes. Any one have the same experience? Thanks
A number of C7 owners have reported this issue over the years. Only a certain VIN range of 2017s had a recalled issue (recall N182182760). I recently had the recall work performed on my 2017 and it involved replacing the entire steering rack/gearbox according to the work order. In any case, your 2019 is under warranty so let the dealership deal with it as the issue will likely reoccur if it has already happened once.
Hopefully, the code is still set in your car. Otherwise, the dealer won't have a clue and won't take definitive action on your word alone. I too was in a '17 when the steering failed, but it did not set a code at all, or at least did not display one on the dash. In fact, it was a new St'ray I'd just bought and the dealer initially thought it would be a quick fix... for some reason; it wasn't.
Only later the breadth of the problem was announced and acknowledged by GM. I do not know what proved to be the issue with the car I had just bought since they gave me an identical '18 and sent me on my way home. Yea, Kerbeck's!

Just got back. Their Vette mechanic checked everything-no codes, drove ok, checked hardware and wiring. He mentioned that he has only seen the PS replacement once over the last few years. He mentioned that the circuits in the PS system are sensitive to voltage spikes. He suggested I try to forgo my trickle charger for a couple of weeks and see if it does not return. Not the answer I wanted to hear but he had no other explanation. It is noted for future warranty claims.

The trickle charger excuse is complete nonsense. For people that have reported having the PS issue before, it is something that comes and goes without warning. You may go months without the PS failing and then suddenly it stops working once or a few times within a short period and then goes a while without issue again. Next time, try to record the warning message on your smartphone if you can and you'll at least have some proof to show them. The parts and labor for replacing the steering gear box and components is about $2,000 if you end up having to pay it out of pocket in a few years when your warranty is up.
