I am a new owner with a 2019 GS. I have read on other boards that the factory wheel alignment is set more for track and results in uneven wear on the tires. Some posted to have the dealer realign “ flat” for road. Any advice from experienced owners.
Whenever I have a wheel alignment done on any of my cars I always insist it is the dead center of the specs. My 2019 GS came pretty close to that when I had it checked so I left it alone. I have always had great tire wear when I set to dead center on any car. This is the way I want it on every setting of the car:
The alignment is set for performance but not for track. Your GS is probably somewhere near -1.0 degrees camber, plus or minus a couple tenths of a degree. The Owner's Manual says to set track camber at double that figure or around -2 degrees camber.
As you can see the factory setting is far from a track setting. However, it can wear the insides of the tires if the front toe is not 0.0 or maybe a whisker of toe in.
Below is a copy of the alignment I had done last year before the National Corvette Caravan. As you can see the factory alignment wasn't too bad on the front, but out quite a bit on the rear. Overall, camber was not bad, but toe was out of spec. These alignment specs have served me well over the 7500 miles driven since this alignment was done, no unusual tire wear on the OEM Michelin Super Sports.
Due to take it in for an alignment check when current conditions allow us to get out of the house.
