Default C7 key fob programming instructions

I’m trying to program my new remote and having problems. I can’t get the car to display “ready for remote” I follow the instructions and I insert the key in trunk, open it, then turn it 5 times within 10secs and the display stays dark. Please help!

So just follow your manual exactly starting on page 29

First, what are you trying to do? Add as #3? Reprogram an old FOB and a new FOB as 1 & 2? I'd also like to know the year of the car?

I can't give advice until I know what you are trying to do.

Also, I only endorse these instructions. The Owner's Manual does NOT warn you of things that can screw up the programming.

OK, got it.

You want to do the long program that takes the step #8 path through the programming.

Roll down the driver's window. If you have a battery maintainer, hook it up.

Now remove the trunk key from the current working FOB. Take the 2 FOBs and get them at least 10' away from the car. The car MUST NOT see or sense a FOB NEAR it when you do the 5 key turns.

Now, read the instructions so you have an idea of the time intervals that you will use to program the FOBs.

After you have read the instructions for the long program, do it exactly as the instructions state. When you are asked for FOB #1, put in your old FOB first and it will become #1, then the 2nd FOB placed in the slot will be #2 and it also will have memory functions associated with it.

Take your time.

I also found out (apparently anyway) that you must program 2 FOBS when you do it. My car got stuck in a security mode wanting to program the 2nd FOB which is still hidden somewhere in my house. I finally gave up and took my car to the dealership, they also told me that once my car got stuck in the security mode I can't just buy a key another key and reprogram it myslef again. So dealer getting me for an additional $105 plus second key/FOB to clean this up. Guess you need to make sure you have 2 FOBS when reprogramming....Or maybe they are just getting me for an additional $105...but I tried to find anyway possible to clear the theft deterrent needs service and security and found nothing to help.

I think you're getting bent over. BOHICA?

Security mode: I believe to get it out of that, you need to press and hold the security buton for 10 seconds or more.
OR, it might come out of the mode if you reboot the ECM. Use your owner's manual for the location of your ECM/TCM fuse(2014 is #52 in Engine Bay Fuse Box), unplug it for a few minutes and it should reboot. Disconnecting the battery negative terminal achieves the same result, but it is a bit more time consuming.

The Long Program will start anew without ANY FOBs and make a #1 - #8 if you have that many FOBs.
