Maybe I can get better times without launch control. Also, I read the C8 was a sub 3 sec. car
Yes the factory quoted 0-60 with the C8 Z51 is 2.9 seconds, some youtubers have already beat that by a tenth or two with their C8. The traction advantage of the mid-engine layout is real.
both are stock. On stock tires unprepped surfaces.
And yeah that C8 launches hard when it doesn't spin. So far I've seen the same 2 cars going 2.67 2.7 2.8 also run low 3s maybe every 3rd run or so. They die off above 60 though. The 60 to 100 time is almost identical to a C7 A8 car. It's all in the first 2 gears.
Another example is this
On a 3.6 to 60 run I have seen 7.0 to 100 in my old 16 A8 Z06. Stock also.
The C8 that went 2.7 to 60 got to a 100 is 7.2
So a .9 advantage to 60 on that run and it was still .2 slower to 100 (de1ta of 1.1 seconds. - that's how much time the Z06 beat the C8 from 60 to 100 alone). Indicative of the 155hp and even more tq difference between the 2. This is the trick 911s have lived by all these years. Weight transfer and short gearing.
C8 should have kept the gears short but 5th comes on at 110 and drags way out.
