two ways to answer this from my perspective. The corvette is a "cool car" when I was looking I wanted some features not found on your every day. Such as dry sump, big brakes, big wheels, and mag ride. I have a z51 and cannot tell the difference between tour, sport or track as far has ride comfort, etc. However, my 85 year old mother can...she can tell me what mode the corvette is in after about 5 min of switching. So bottom line vote from me is get it.
Just FYI - are you aware of the 3LT interior issue? Just want to make sure you are of aware of the talk regarding it.
Just another part of The Toy to play with.Especially at that price.
The only downer could be the bigger size wheels. But I believe that z51 style has no issue's.So,Go for it.
Don't let 3k decide on what you want in life.Especially with the BS Going on now
No idea why mag ride by itself would be $3K more. And both should have the same size wheels. (unless one has aftermarket wheels) And even if they are aftermarket, unless they are something like HRE's or some other fully forged, expensive as hell wheels, it wouldn't be that expensive.
Ok, that said, Yes I would pay more for FE4 mag ride. In fact, I wouldn't buy one without it. But it was a $1800 (IIRC?) option on the Z51 so $3K more is out of line.
I have had 14 base w/o Mag Ride, changed that out to Z51 shock setup and that helped... My second 2014 has Mag Ride and it is 100% better after you get the 350 dollar upgrade...
I'm in a catch 22 circumstance. I have a Stingray without mag ride. It is just fine. I also have a Z06, and they come with mag ride. I'm pretty much stuck in tour mode fearing I'll break the wheels! Now if I am familiar with a highway I'll put her in sport. Never track unless you are actually on a track is the recommendation. The car is very planted in tour, and more so in sport.
If I was buying a Stingray I would get the mag ride because you have more flexibility to use it without breaking the wheels. I'll eventually just buy some monoblock forged wheels for the Z06 and have the worries behind me. I enjoy speeding and driving wild around corners too much not to have mag ride. (in proper environments) New wheels will be coming soon.
In summary it is just a preference depending on how you drive. If you drive hard and fast mag ride is a bargain. If not? I'm of the opinion it isn't necessary.

Had both 16 stingray no mag and current 17 GS with mag. NO way I would want it, if the GS didn't have it and come std. I would not order at all. All depends on how you use the car as for me I just pleasure ride so don't need all the bells and whistles. MY 03 Z does not have it and rides way better than the GS. Very costly to replace when gone south and they will go.

One question I do have is why one has bigger wheels? The Z-51 comes with the 19/20 front/rear wheel set up. Is one car a GS?
Are they aftermarket wheels?
I picked up a 2016 Coupe this past week. One reason I bought it was because the car had the FE4 option (Mag Ride/Z51.)
apparently, the dealer (non Chevy), was unaware it had this option and didn't advertise as such.
According to the manual, Weather, ECO and Tour modes have the MR in Tour mode. You have to be in Sport or Track mode
to get the benefit of the MR.
Since I would rarely go into Sport mode, MR is not particularly beneficial for me. Without it, I would have been happy to have
a base suspension car.
I traded in a 2012 GS vert. All C6 GS cars had the Z-51 suspension. The 2016 does ride better in my opinion and that is
probably due to the MR. Worth $3k more? That is your call.
Starting in 2018.The wheel sizes went up sizes on the Z51 Package.People are posting if they are non original. The OP Hasn't stated what year the car is of interest.

I would go with the Mag Ride myself. You mention upgraded, bigger wheels. If those are forged or of higher quality than OEM, that could be well worth the 3k alone. With that said, not many, but i've seen a few posts, Stingrays have suffered bent or cracked wheels.
