Dressing up the ,17 GS CE # 663 for the summer. It is time to paint the coil covers...
Do I need a high heat spray paint? It is Plastic... but Hot. I want to paint with Engine Red from
AutoZone then cover with 2 coats of clear coat. Will the Clear coat delaminate....? It is not
High temp paint.. suggestions welcome Thanx..
I painted mine in Carbon Flash, using the same paint as on the body. For clear coat, I used Spraymax 2K Clear. It is expensive, and nasty to apply, but the results are outstanding and it held up well on the engine.Make sure you use Adhesion Promoter Primer (for plastic) first and at least rough up the surface first.
Most people sand them smooth, but I did not bother.

Have it done professionally - makes all the difference in the world. Doesn't sound like you want any customization, so the paint job would be inexpensive. Maybe a local bike shop or body repair guy would do it for you cheaper than a "corvette store" selling painted parts.
9 times out of 10, you can spot a "DIY" paint job from a mile away - not the look you want for a C7. Here is what I had done for my 17 GS Vert - can't wait to install them once the weather gets a little nicer:
Pete @ Showstoppers did mine and I've seen his work with regard to the GS CE and its outstanding. You may want to take a look at it. If not, best of luck and post up pics when yours are complete

I just finished my plenum cover (carbon flash w/clearcoat) but don't have it mounted yet. I did do my own FRCs with LB/clearcoat and decals however. I think they turned out fine

I have installed a lot of painted pieces under the hood of my C7. Just a good primer with regular body paint and a clear. Never had a problem with paint getting messed up over time. Here’s my engine bay:
