Got my Proclip and a dual USB installed today since there is nothing else to do😏. Now I just need a short cable for my phone and the wife won’t have to steal mine on trips 😄.
For clarification this is the USB I installed. Works perfectly with CarPlay.

I have the same, they make great products. I especially like how the design the vehicle mount separate from the phone mount. Makes it easy when you switch devices.

Yes the module approach is nice. I got one for my truck and liked it so much I had to get one for the car. I’m hoping with my phone in view I’ll forget it less often when I get out😄
Only problem with that setup is if you plan on using "CarPlay". I don't think it will connect through that power outlet, I think it only works when connected to one of the car's USB ports. If you don't use CarPlay, that's a perfect setup in my opinion.

That's correct, this only supplys the +5V for USB charging, but the connection from the phone to the system would still work fine by bluetooth - so audio, phone calls etc. will also still work. But, the central armrest USB is close enough anyway, and a short USB can be ran neatly from there.
I have this, which is in my daily driver (a 2006 Cadillac DTS) too -

You are correct. However that’s a dual USB outlet I installed. It runs underneath and back into the console. I took the 12v outlet in the console out to run the cables to the USB ports. Worked perfectly 👍🏻

Wow, that's cool. I don't think I have ever seen one of those before. Nice setup!!!
