Earlier I had posted a thread on replacing the belt molding on my 2016 Corvette Stingray. The post may be in error, after looking at the car, the part that I want to either replace or recondition may not be the belt molding, it is the black plastic trim that is on the outside of the window on the top of both doors. It runs the full length of the door, the previous owner must have had a cat get on the car and put some scratches in this piece of plastic trim. I am not sure if this is part of the belt molding or is just a piece of trim, regardless, I either want to replace these pieces or am thinking about restoring them to look better using a fine piece of steel wool and then taping up and putting a coat of black paint and clear coat to make them look better. Has anyone taken a door panel off or had any dealings with this piece? Thanks
What you are describing seems to be the belt molding.

I would just replace them, but that's just me.
Thanks, did you have to take the door panel off? I assume you did. Looks like on a picture of the belt molding, it has a screw that holds it in place at the front of the door in the side mirror area.
