Default New problem

2015, Z51,auto. Yesterday with my phone in the car, I got a display message in red, of a picture of a phone with battery charge and volume symbols. This morning with phone in car, I got message that "phone not connected", and the buttons on right side of steering wheel that would scroll for various functions such as tire pressure, do not work at all. I can not delete the message. Is this similar to a problem that is known to have come up before on the forum? Any idea of the cause?
About a month ago, my local dealer had to drop my dashboard to repair an air conditioning problem. I can't help but wondering if that had anything to do with this new problem.

I'm assuming you mean that these images/messages were shown in the DIC. Normally, one of the messages I always get is the "Bluetooth Connected" message as I always have my Bluetooth on, and the car naturally connects to it usually within about 1-30 seconds (I think it polls every 30 seconds). Your "phone is not connected" message seems like it might be saying, for some reason, the car was not able to connect to your phone via Bluetooth. I have noticed times when, after receiving such messages, they fail to disappear from the DIC. In such cases usually pressing the center button on the left-hand side clears that and then the scroll buttons work fine. You might want to try that next time this happens.

Is your battery fully charged? We all know that when a C7 has a low battery, all kinds of silly crap happens... (Just starting with the obvious first)

Defaria,
I can't thank you enough. You saved me a trip to the dealer (I would have waited until the virus subsided). I hit the button on the left, as you suggested, and saw that "telephone" had been selected (I don't know how that happened). I scrolled up to "info", hit the center button, and all was fixed. Thanks again.

Anytime you can avoid a trip to the dealer, it is a good day.

You're welcome but that's really strange! I say that because I misspoke! I said hit the center button on the left but I meant to say hit the center button on the right (hand side of the steering wheel). I guess both center buttons can cancel a DIC message.

Then again, re-reading what you wrote above I suspect you just had the mode set to telephone. I would suggest, perhaps while at a standstill, that you hit that left button (by that I mean on the righthand side of the steering wheel, hit the left button of the 4 directional buttons - up, down, left, right). That should display the various modes on the left-hand side of the center display. Play around and try each one. Get to know them. Then you should never have a problem like this again and you'll get to know all the functionality presented there. You could also crack open the manual and learn more. You never know what you might learn and like.

defaria,
I bought this car new more than 5 years ago. At that time I read the manual thoroughly enough to familiarize myself with most operations. When this new problem arose, I again turned to the manual, and searched under "telephone" since I thought the problem was related. Although the problem did concern the telephone functions, I found no mention of the DIC screen freezing, nor any info on how to remedy the problem. That's when I turned to the Forum, and where you solved my problem.

Yup. Some messages are persistent and can be cleared by pressing the center button on the right of the steering wheel. I wasn't aware changing views also did so you educated us, too.

One of the signs of a weak battery on my C5 was the DIC changing to default views on startup. I attributed it to drawing the voltage too low. I don't think Telephone view is the DIC default but if you continue to see changes you don't think you caused, you should be suspicious of your battery.
