Default Grill insert?

I recently took my wife's 2016 Vette to the dealer to work on the transmission. (Again) That's another thread, but when we got the car back, I noticed that a part of the grill was missing. It is on the left side. It is just one rectangle about 2" by 5". It must just snap in. It is obviously some kind of access point. I never even noticed it before. We called the dealer and they gave me Sargent Schoults. (I know nothing)

The funny thing is they didn't even know what it's for. Can one of you guys enlighten me?

That's on the right (passenger side) of the grill.

The 2014 OEM grill has an access port to no where on it. It is a removable section that you pop out to screw in a tow hook. Since there is no tow hook receptacle on the 2014, thus the acess port to no where. I would imagine the later year cars have the same port but they can screw in the tow hook. Bottom line, someone snatched your access panel. Unless you have it on video, the dealer or whoever took it got away with stealing a part off your car.

Order a new access port and snap it back into place. The better alternative would be get the Z06 grill and put that on and not worry as the Z06 grill does not have the easily stolen panel on it.

Correct. I missed the reference to the left side.

Loca dealers all take pictures of the my car from all angles when checking in for service. If your dealer does the same perhaps you can ask to see them to verify if the part was there when you left the car or could have fallen off before that.

I guess I'm getting senile, it is on the right (pax) side. Must be for the tow hook.

The little grill part snaps into place, on our 2017 Z51 the tabs are different top & bottom so use a bit of care.

"...If your dealer does the same... (take pictures)" That would be a cold day... somewhere otherwise very hot.
