Thanks to a person those that have answered my first question about the deactivation of fuel management system on my Vette c7 2017 G-Sport and use of RANGE TEC module to do it. Any other suggestions would be great as well. However this question is "how really big" is the rim breakage issue on a non racing RIMS 2017 Grand Sport. And also what was or are the causes i.e. poor metal work, pot holes and or ROAD RACING stressors? What are the best AFTERMARKET suppliers for rim....
There is currently a poll in the C7 general discussion regarding those that have, and have not had issues, with the GS rims. I just purchased a 2019 GS and have also purchased Forgeline wheels. I like that they are made in the USA. CW4L.com, Gerry, great guy to deal with.
The poll currently sits at 75% no problem 25% problems. However, some may not even realize their rims are bent or cracked.
My tire guy said he had a Vette in last week that had three cracked rims the owner didn't even know he had.
This has been an active, ongoing issue for wide-body C7s forever. GM chose to go with cheap wheels... period, instead of quality forged ones. That said, of course many have had no issues, whereas others have replaced many before giving up and buying quality forged aftermarket.
I tell people to simply consider the cost of such replacement wheels in the initial "price of admission." It's not unusual to find one or two active relevant threads on the front page of this section of the Forum any given day. However, a quick "Advanced Search" with C7sections designated will bring up more threads with more posts than you will ever want to read. Enjoy your C7 and BE WELL!!!
