Default C7 would not unlock

For the second time my 2018 GS would not unlock after sitting for about a week. I tried each door and rear trunk. None of these would unlock. I then tried with my remote and that didn't work either. I used my key to unlock the back of the car, and of course set off the alarm, which I couldn't turn off. After the alarm went off I was then able to unlock the door at will. It started just fine once I gained access. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix or just something I have to put up with? Thanks.

First thing to try is replace the FOB batteries both FOBs.

Then, come back and let us know if you still have issues.

Unless willing to let it sit at a dealer, might have to.
At least until it becomes intolerable, an '18 still has B2B left I'll guess.
Even then any reported issue has to be reproduceable for a tech in order to be fixed.

Sure battery isn't in the process of crapping out?
Has it been load-tested?
Tried a charger for a day or 2?
Sure sounds like a battery.

Consistently using a tender's a wise practice w/ these juice hogs, too.
Doing so seems to greatly minimize starting problems after periods of inactivity.

Thanks for the replies. If it was the key fob battery or car battery why would it be back to normal after I set off the alarm with the key? I can then unlock the car at will and as I said it started right up. I'll do as you suggest and replace the fob batteries. Won't hurt to do those. Then I'll see what happens. If I have the car in for service I'll have them load test the car's battery.

You guys are awesome!

I just had similar issues of "whacko things going on" ...It was in my case my battery in the vette, not the remotes for me...2015 Z-51 vert...had to reprogram the top so the computer knew where it really was and had to reprogram the windows after the battery was replaced (both simple things to do)...the rest was ok after...What a pita it was to change out the battery!

Several times recently my car did not recognize me next to it. The first time using the fob opened it. The second time it did not. After opening the fob and finding out I ordered the wrong size 2032 batteries I wiped the battery clean and reassembled. It has worked since.

Best bet is to have the car battery checked. If it is OK, then may be time for a dealer visit.
