Anyone have experience with an engine bearings coming apart on #5 & #6 cylinder. I have 40,000 miles and it locked up on me. The warranty is 5/100,000 miles but since I'm over 5 years now, I'm out of luck. GM offers some assistance toward the a new engine but I'm far from satisfied.

this is awful and makes me wish I bought the extended warranty. Maybe I still can. Is this fairly common?
Sorry to hear this. I've not heard of similar issues with other early year LT1s.
Quick questions:
How would you describe your maintenance / routine service schedule - oil/filter changes, oil used, filters used.
Did you purcahse new or used?
Driving style?
Auto or standard trans?
That sucks... The good news is that it's rare.... The bad news is that it happened to you...
There was a post in this forum a while back (maybe a month?) of an owner with a similar engine failure story... Search the forum or perhaps that owner will see the topic and chime in...
Sorry to hear that. I have not read or heard of this to be a common problem. Hope they can find the root of the problem and assist you in a satisfactory manner.
Its not that rare. There is someone that had the same issues 4 threads above and Others that lost engines the same way in the performance area. Many on stock power which is really scary .. Now I'm worried about losing a spring or a bearing .. ahhhhhhh

Good luck, keep us posed....
I always changed it at the dealer or lube shop with Mobil 1. I purchased new and have two payments left. It's a manual transmission. Mostly highway Miles but may get into it for a short period limiting out the RPMS so the cut off kicks in. I've downshifted at high speed going into corners but within limits. No other issues until now.
Car and Driver magazine had a similar issue with their long term test of the 2014 Stingray. Seem there were some bad ACDelco filters that GM claimed was the problem. You might want to research that source.

OP.. not common.
Can be caused by so many one off or few problems like
Misalignment of the torque tube during assembly
Harmonic vibration somewhere else in drivetrain
Another part degrading enough sending crap through lubes system beyond filter capacity to stop it (prior to filtration?)
Set of bearings produced which were subpar for whatever reason
That really sucks.
Then you have the 428k mile C7 thread?
Good news is you have 2 payments left.
Another year of payments should give you joy for the rest of that cars life. Like a reset button.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
