Default Ceramic brake question

Just bought a 2019 new Grand Sport. You guys are all talking about ceramic brake pads. Does that mean the Grand Sport has them already or doesn't have them and needs them? Thanks

The grand Sport doesn't have ceramic pads they also don't NEED them. However many members have changed to ceramic due to 90% less brake dust. Mine get so dusty just running to the store and back it's horrible. I will be changing to power stop ceramic as soon as possible. The brake dust also pits your wheels if there painted black so keep them clean.

While many people like the less expensive Powerstop pads, I prefer the Carbotech 1521's as a STREET ONLY pad. (ok, they will work for autocross, because autocross isn't hard on brakes like a road course event.) . They also don't turn the rotor brown like the Powerstop's. About $300 front and rear.

Power Stop pads could turn turn your rotors brown !!! The Carbotech 1521 will not. The stone throwing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires damage your wheels.

I just put PowerStop (front & rear) on my Grand Sport and I can not how little dust they produce. I would drive around the block and my wheels would be filthy with my OEM pads... I drove 200 miles last week (highway and city) and I wiped down my wheels and there was hardly anything on the rag.

Nothing wrong with CarboTechs they are just double the price - which I dont understand why anyone would do that when PowerStop pads offer amazing stopping power.

As for PowerStop pads turning your rotors brown - that's total BS. He's posted the same pic for years - probably were installed wrong or maybe a bad batch from years ago, but everyone here has been extremely pleased with PowerStop.

Totally agree! Installed's PS Z26's on '19 GS wearing Chrome GS wheels last fall after being tired of having to clean wheels after a short drive! Absolutely no browning of rotors experienced!

Just an FYI: There is some give and take with ceramic brake pads. . You give up some stopping power to have less brake dust. Just so you know.

Well, I don't see an issue.

I'm old. No doubt about it. I always go with what I personally know from my experience. I have the Carbotech 1521s on my car. They stop the car. They don't dirty up my wheels. When my pads need to be replaced, I go with my experience and what I know. I don't like surprises. When I replace, I'll use the Carbotech.

I'm old and stuck in my ways, forgive me for that quirk!

These are working pretty nicely. About $230 a set on Amazon. Washed all the dust off my rims when I installed them. They are still clean after many drives.
