Default Finally got my C7

I have been looking for a C7 since last summer. I was wanting a Z51 2LT version so I wan't looking at Grand Sports at all. Soi I have limited information about them.

I picked up a 17 Grand Sport A8 with 14K miles last Friday.

Here are my questions:
1. Did the black accents come as part of the Grand Sport
2. Is there a way to tell if the A8 Tiple Flush has been done?
3. I need to check the oil life. But the Owners Manual says to change the oil you undo 2 oil plugs. Then change the filter and put the plugs back and fill up the remote reservoir ? If that is the case how come there are so many horror stories about the dry sump?
4. Is there a way to tell if the car has been tracked? It has new front tires Michelin Pilot Sport AS +3 but the rear are Pilot Super Sports. Probably summer only.

Anything else you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the pic:

Congratulations on your new Grand Sport! The black accent stripe was optional. A dealer can check the service record to see if the triple flush has been done. Not sure about horror stories in changing the oil, although some smaller dealers seem to have had issues on the subject. If you have done any maintenance on prior cars, the oil change is a very simple procedure. Yes, two oil plugs to drain the dry sump system - not difficult. On the tire and track issue. Hard to tell if is has been tracked. Having two newer AS +3s on the front is not surprising. Alignment from the factory is sometimes aggressive and inside of the front tires will wear faster than then the rest of the tires, requiring replacement earlier then even the rears. I would have the local dealer check the alignment and set it to normal street driving if you don't plan to track it. I had that done as soon as I bought my GS and my tires are wearing very evenly.

Congrats on your new C7! Sharp looking! I would check with your local GM service department to check for service records on the car. I also do a car fax on cars that I purchase. There is also a free car check online by inputting the cars VIN number. Any and all information helps finding out the history of the car. Best of luck and enjoy your new ride!

Very nice, enjoy. To answer your questions, if possible, see if you can contact the original owner.

Your right. I have only driven it home from the dealership. About 60 miles.

I am going to put some miles on it this week. LOL

Congrats. Looks awesome 😎

with question 3, I think the problem is overfilling on these dry sump systems. There is a very specific steps to check oil level.

I just had my oil changed, and my normal guy was not available. I checked the level when I got home, and it was over the recommended leve 😡

had to take out 3/4 of quart and called the service rep to properly train this guy.

Good luck and enjoy

9 qts only on dry sump, usually after oil change, after checking the prescribed way, oil mark is in the middle of dip stick grid. I'm OK with that.

CONGRATS - The GS is such an amazing Vette. May I suggest a few things:

1) You should do your own oil changes. I am the least mechanically inclined person on these forums, but I do my own oil changes. I have seen post after post where dealership use the wrong oil, too much oil, oil filled in wrong area... Also, by doing your own oil changes, you not only learn alot about your car, but you also save a ton of money for something that truly is so easy to do. Read the manual, watch a few YouTube videos and you will be an expert in no time.

2) You should get yourself a Battery Tender Plus. The C7 has so many systems that are dependant on the battery, so you always want to keep it fully charged. You should also look to see how old the battery is...its super cheap insurance to replace it when it gets to 4+ years old.

3) To get those black wheels to shine - use Meguiars M205 with a Mother's Cone (drill bit adapter). Use it on low/med speed. Mine became very dull looking (even after washing) but once I used M205 they looked brand new.

4) Since you have an automatic (as do I), get yourself a RANGE device that disables AFM (Active Fuel Management). This will stop the transmission to switching from V8 to V4 to save on fuel. You can research many posts here that state this device (with also doing a Triple Flush) helps stop / prevent the dreaded shudder.

Didn’t see anyone mention it, but It’s a good idea to get your tires matched up. Pick one, all seasons or summer runs. I don’t think two of one and two of the other is the safest way to go about it.

Beautiful GS, best of luck and enjoy the ride.
