Default Touch screen keeps going into edit mode!

This past weekend when driving my GS, I've noticed every time I tried touching the touch screen the display would switch to edit mode. The only way to get out of edit mode is to hit the home button on the bottom which thankfully still works. Basically all I can do to navigate the touch screen is use the controls below it. Has anyone else experienced this? I am still under warranty as I just got the car last August, but I wanted to see if this was a regular issue and if their was an easy fix before I bring it to the dealer. I hate taking my car to the dealer... LOL Pic for your troubles, thanks.

Never heard of "Edit Mode". Do you have any pictures of the display and exactly what it is allowing you to "edit"? Only thing I can think of is you went to change the time at some point and didn't save the change. To my knowledge, that is the only thing that can be "edited" on the touch screen...

Edit mode allows you to manage Home Page Icons. You can move them around on the page or to the next page or to the top tab bar.

1. Touch and hold any of the
Home Page icons to enter
edit mode.
2. Continue holding the icon and
drag it to the desired position.
3. Release your finger to drop the
icon in the desired position.
4. To move an application to
another page, drag the icon to
the edge of the screen toward
the desired page.
5. Continue dragging and
dropping application icons as
desired.
6. Press home to exit edit mode.

I'll try to get a picture when I get home. I did not mess with it when it was in "edit mode" but it looks like you can re-arrange your icons in any order you want on your touch screen. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with the time changes because A. I have not messed with the time since I got the car and B. the display will stay out of "edit mode" when you first start the car it only goes into that mode after some time has passed.

After exiting edit mode and then touching any icon it just goes back into edit mode again.

Learn something new every day. I was not aware you could move the icons on the home page. Very cool! I've only had a Vette for a few months so don't judge me too harshly for not knowing lol

Try cleaning the screen, especially around the edges. The screen may think there is a prolonged touch somewhere. Also, if you can get into settings, recalibrate the screen. Otherwise, the screen itself may be defective.

Have not heard of this before.

You can disconnect your neg battery cable for a few minutes to do a reset to see if that fixes the problem. Just remember to re-index your windows.
Also, if you have a screen protector on, I would remove it as it may be causing the problem.

Thanks Ron that's a good idea I will try that! The screen is pretty clean but it will not hurt to try that.

Unpair your phone; then re-pair your phone to the car. There were some glitches in the latest iPhone update.

I'm away from my car, so I don't have the exact sequence, but I had a similar problem and it was fixed by calibrating the screen. It has something to do with the sensitivity of the touchscreen, and it looked like a specific area of mine was worn because it was the most common for me to press. The calibration is in the user settings somewhere, can't remember exactly.

Yeah, I was convinced I needed a new touchscreen til someone suggested the calibration. Took 30 seconds once I found the proper menu.

Go to: Settings > Display > Calibrate Touchscreen. Surprisingly, there's also an option to turn the display off. Not sure why.

you can turn the display off to clean it on most screens like this... most of the time it will only stay off for a minute or so..... but I have not tried it on mine as I clean it when the car is off

Once you turn off the screen, it will remain off until you touch the screen again or touch any faceplate button.

Thanks this seemed to work. I need to take it on a longer drive then just around the block but so far so good!

The screen is visually noisy. Some prefer quiet.
