For those of you who have a uhaul trailer to tow your corvette; Do the doors have enough clearance to open after you drop the fenders? And, did you remove the front bars, have wood under the front tires, or back the car on to the trailer?
Thanks.
I haven't towed my c7 with the uhaul trailer, but i have towed other lowish cars. I used to remove the front wheel "stop plate" and remove that round strap ratchet. Then i would drive up, reinstall the ratchet (but no plate), strap the car down... When unloading you have to unbolt the ratchet again prior to driving the car off. You can probably use boards under the wheels to clear that front strap mechanism and/or strap board.
As far as doors opening, Uhaul's fender comes off and I am pretty sure your door will be able to open
I have a 16' aluminum trailer I've used for quite a few performance cars. Doors have never been an issue with any, including my C5, with the trailer fenders removed. My C7's not been on it, but it's not significantly different from the C5, except less low front overhang.
Anyway, here's how I load and unload. I connect the trailer and truck, then raise the front of the trailer quite a bit. Then, I use the 6' aluminum trailer ramps from the trailer onto the first section of my Race Ramps. Viola! On and off it goes. If in doubt, remove the Vette, under-nose, side air-deflectors. All the best!
(I thought I had a pic of the C5 on the trailer, but not so. But, here you can see by my wife's B'ville racer that with the trailer fenders removed there would be no clearance problem)
