at work last night, some **** co-worker did this to my otherwise pristine '17. this is my passenger door, that is bare fiber showing in white. about 6-8"long.
yeh, and probably because of two things: s/he has no integrity, and s/he knows it's going to cost more than $50 to fix. that really is terrible. I've seen people find little pieces of paper and leave a note. I would hope that practice is not gone, but it might be.
Oh it is long gone. My wife's Tahoe looks like it went through a demolition derby from crap like this. So sad how little people care about other peoples things. Sorry this happened to you, I can certainly feel your pain.
Hey, that sucks. It looks like part is paint and part is your paint scratched, scored. Can you take some compound and buff it out. I bet part of the damage will erase.
Good luck and sorry for your damage because of @$$holes like that !!
Rich
I hate to see that. Definitely hit it with a DA buffer, MF cutting pad and some compound. It'll reduce the "in your face" damage.
I backed my Vette into a corner of a chrome bumper in a parking lot. 0400...crazy early. Made some rub on his bumper. My rear quarter was way worse. I left a note and my #.
We talked a couple days later. Once he learned what my car was...he couldn't stop laughing and felt terrible for me. Truly good hearted laugh....at my expense. LOL.
MY BMW was hit in a parking lot. The woman who backed into my car left a kind note with her name and insurance information.
Some continue to be thoughtful and responsible.
I am sorry for to see the damage on the OP's car. A painful event.
I would do the same. Had someone back into my 4 Runner and did not have insurance. His mom has the policy (he is in his late 30's) and she will not answer the calls from Metlife, their company to acknowledge he had permission to drive the car. So I am out $500 deductible because of the other guy. USAA, my company, is pursuing compensation, but someone in their late 30's driving daddy's car with out their own insurance probably could care less about a judgement on their credit record. Bottom line, there are many people driving in the US without a valid driver's license, without insurance, under-insured, or are just dead beats. Protect your corvette and try to avoid these people.
To comment about drivers with no lic or insurance....
my wife was in our SRT. 2 lane road w/ double yellow. This piece of garbage driving a shitty Accord crossed the yellows and they sideswiped...almost head on. Left rear wheel on the SRT was ripped out of the rear diff. She spun twice.
The low life woman in the other car...her FIRST verbal comment to anyone was...I lost my phone. Where’sy phone. Never asked about the other driver..my wife.
No lic. No insurance. She was sentenced to TWELVE weekends in jail. 3 nts every week. She had a rap sheet as long as my....

most likely done by company equipment (big rig).
it sucks ppl are not honest.
The same thing happened to me on vacation ... took my Z06 to Hendrick’s Chevrolet - Body Shop and Joey repaired the door & perfectly repainted it for $500 ... an incredible Vette Shop with the best mechanics & body specialists!
I had two scratches a lot like those in the first 3 months of owning my car. Both polished out by hand with polishing compound. As others have said, try polishing - you may get lucky like I did.
I would take it to a body shop and see if they could try and polish it out. Most shops will give you a break on price if you are there paying out of your own pocket with no insurance involvement.
I'd contact your local Corvette club for info if you are not aware of any good body shops in your area.
Take it in and get it properly fixed realizing in the grand scheme of things it could have been much worst.
Sorry and good luck.
If you drive a Corvette......You MUST park as far away as possible, preferably in a corner. Society has become full of mouthy, spoiled, self centered brats who could care less about your nice car. And their parents are the same. For the time being, go online and buy a spray can of Automotive touchup paint and a can of clear, Block sand the area, paint and wheel it out. It might not match perfect, but it will look a heck of a lot better than it does now....Good luck......

Doesn't matter. As my wife has noticed no matter how far away you park someone will pull into the space right next to you. The car is like a magnet - ohhhh cool car let me get closer and check it out.

While what you say is true (that parking far away does not guarantee that some dimwit will still park right next to you in a wide open lot), in most cases you will reduce the chance of a dbag encounter and save your car from damage. If you park with the average chimplings, the chances of your car getting dinged like this skyrockets. I bank on the laziness factor of most people, because it's usually a long walk to the destination from the places I park, lol.
It's gotta suck to obsess over a car. I know when I had mine, I didn't want to take it to the store or run an errand in it, just for this reason. Got to where I enjoyed the car, less and less. Too bad too, because it was an awesome car.

You have to ask yourself if the juice is worth the squeeze. For me, it absolutely is.

I typically park on end spot close to curb as doing so only puts one side of your C7 at risk. I also park on the right side end since most people pull into parking places as opposed to backing in and considering the majority of vehicles don't have passengers this further reduces your risk of your door being hit.
Every precaution helps.
