Default Quick Tranny/diff fluid question

Once we swap our fluids and fill....theres always left over. Are these fluids susceptible to moisture like brake fluid?

Meaning....can I consolidate the few ounces from each bottle into one so I could use it during my next fluid swap?

I put in Redline in the tranny. Still haven't done my rear diff but I'm putting in the OEM stuff there.

It doesn't matter as much as it does for brake fluid. The exact timeline it'll still be good for? I don't know...That said, I'd recommend just paying the extra $10 or $30 to buy a new bottle when you swap it again, unless it'll be in the next 6 months or so. That's my personal opinion, I'm cheap but not that cheap.

I have 2 track events coming up. August and October So...there are a few fluid changes on the horizon for me. I'm a bit of a greenhorn here with a vertical learning curve. But a fast learner.

From what you said (which was kind of the idea I was thinking), I'll hang on to the unused fluid and that'll save me a few bottles over the next few months. If I go longer than 4ish months or so, I'll start with fresh ones.

Assuming the trans is a 7spd you will have maybe a pint left over. I have mine saved and may stick it in a squirt can for general purpose bolt lube. I haven't done a diff.

Hey Craig. Yep...M7. Not sure of the total left. The pump I was using couldn't grab every little drop from each bottle. Haven't consolidated them yet.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, absorbing moisture; the others don't. That's why one is directed to pitch new left-over brake fluid and not the others.

OP has a manual tranny and perhaps a different fluid, but recall that the shudder problems with the A8 turned out to be moisture absorption into the original two versions of the ATF. So apparently, brake/clutch fluid isn't the only thing that absorbs water.
OTOH, moisture absorption doesn't seem to have caused any problem for the stick shift guys.
