Default Performance chips

Just bought a 2014 convertible, new to the forum and just wanted to say hello and ask a quick question about fuel/air mapping chips. Any good ones and ones to stay away from? Are they worth it? Thanks in advance

Corvettes don't use replaceable "chips". You need a "tune" as they use EEPROMs not EPROMS

you won't change the output but you can make your car more responsive to the gas pedal thru an obd plug in. searching on here will tell you the brands and success.

Welcome. Yeah... no chips. Look into tuning, like pre-loaded performance tunes from Diablosport, Superchips, etc., or custom tuning. Lots of options for improving performance...

As I recall, the entire chip = more HP, more gas mileage etc. was totally a scam. As has been said, to achieve more HP, you need a tune and those guys aren't mailing anyone a 'chip'. Keep in mind that with a tune comes higher risk of damaged/lost engine. I believe there are some threads on this C7 general forum of LT1s that were tuned and blew. YMMV.

Adding 60 HP .... wow thats a stretch, a well done dyno tune done by a competent tuner would only get 20 HP at best ......GM does not leave much on the table with a stock car surely not 60 HP lol

Save your money , if you want something that you can upload yourself , buy a Diablo and get a custom tune from Diablo LEW . You not only will gain the 20 hp , you will get a car that is much more fun to drive as he will reduce torque management, change the gas pedal response and change many other parameters in the tune that will blow you away with the results

You could have a street tune done by local tuner and get the same results but you lose the ablity to return the car back to stock at any time for free ....

Dave

I love internet urban ledgends ... and this is how they start

Now where did you hear that tuning a LT1 resulted in blown motors ....lol lol . There are so many LT1's running around with blowers on them pushing 650 to 700 hp and they are daily driven

I have my "Stock" LT1 tuned and it will crack off a 1.7 - 1.8 60ft times and 11 second runs all day long on factory runcraps with DA measuring in the 4,000. And i in no means baby this car as it is daily driven as much as possible and raced on weekends

No tune on a stock motor is going to result in a blown motor unless some hack is doing the tune .

Dave

"Performance Chips" were for the early C4s.

Totally agree, get a tune. As for the tune=damaged engine, this is only true if the tune was done by someone who did not know what they were doing. I have the HP Tuners programmer and my C7 has 106K miles on it. Yes, 15 to 20 HP can be gained with a good tune on a stock C7, but there are other aspects that can be changed as well, like the throttle response and elimination of DOD/AFM for us with automatics. But, just be sure that whoever is doing the tune knows what they are doing.

Default Performance chips

Thanks all for the input, I think I’m going to go for the Diablo😎. On a side note, I’ve seen many posts on the “dash shrinkage” on the 3LT trim level, I wish I had subscribed to this forum before I bought the car as ours is doing the same thing☹️
