I was there July 13th and 14th. Only 6 students in my class. Did the west track. Was 114 Sunday at the airport when I arrived. Had a blast as usual. My second tour. You will learn a lot even if you are a track guru. These instructors are very good.
Question for you folks that have driven the Stingrays there. Did you get the “you have a $15k deductible that you’ll be liable for if you damage the car“ disclaimer also? Or is that just something special for the ZR1?
FYI: If you are eligible for the C7 COS Program at Spring Mountain you have until Dec 31, 2020. After that date the C7 Program will be officially ended.
Also I believe the manual Trans C7 are all gone. If not they are soon to be gone. It with be Automatic only till the end, 12/31/2020
I wouldn't worry about the deductable. Didn't come even close to using it and I was there twice. If you pay attention to their instructions and do their braking drills, you have a very slim chance of needing it. Nobody had any issues at my classes.
Agreed, deductible wasn't an issue. Only one person went off the track, and it was barely. No real damage to the car. There aren't many actual walls to hit - if you miss a turn, you just end up in the desert.
Regarding the question about how valuable is it if you already have track experience: I found the features of the car incredibly useful. Explanation of the modes, how the electronic limited slip differential worked (in particular, applying power too early can be bad on a tight turn). The rest of the class regarding "how to track" may be a refresher for you, but getting constant feedback from experts is still useful.
After the first track session, my brother and I were placed in a 3 car group along with an autocross professional racer. We were clearly the fastest of the group and being paired with another fast person rocked. It felt like we could each progress at our own capabilties, and it was pretty cool to hear the instructor say "he had to work at it". For someone that has years of experience at that course to required upping their game to keep ahead of us - that was a compliment. To be clear, going fast isn't the purpose - learning the right way, hitting the line, using their techniques, etc. That was the purpose - it was just nice to be able to combine it with speed.
You'll learn something either way, and that return is easily worth the $1k investment.
Interested in this is as well since I’ll be there next week.
We sanitize the cars the day before, as well as clean the areas that get touched the most! all our staff take precautions to socially distance, as well as we have a state mandate to wear masks at our facility.

the pool is currently open! the gym is also available, though there is a state mandate to wear a mask while working out inside...
Even without the Covid thing going on, I’d be a little skeeved out wearing a helmet that’s been on hundreds of sweaty heads before me. So since I’m just driving in from CA, I’ll be bringing my own lid.

Not sure if the rest of the C7 classes are also ending, but August is the very last month for the ZR1 class, so it’s now or never for me.
c7 is ending by year's end...manual trans c7's will be first to go (by end of august) making the A8 fleet the only c7 available.
As far as bringing your own helmet, make sure it has the M61 quick release anchors installed, otherwise it won't accept our Hybrid restraint system that must be worn at all times in the car...call us if you have more questions!

Uh oh! Thanks for letting me know. I’m overnighting a set in and should have them on my Bell before I leave.
Not gonna drop the money on one right now, but could I have also brought my own HANS device too?

To be clear, is this for C7 as well as C8? I thought the Simpson system is only being used for the C8 COS.
