I recently picked up a low mileage 2014 as a daily driver and I want to put a splitter on the front. I had bought a higher end carbon flash splitter from ACS composites on a prior C7 and while it was super nice and seemed high quality, it was only a matter of months and it had looked like a shot gun hit it. This was one of the flat, aerodynamic splitters too.
My Z06 splitter (textured black) has held up like a champ but, of course, it doesn't look as good as a carbon flash splitter. Since this is a daily driver I'm thinking about going with the Z06 textured black splitter fro ACS Composites. They do have an option to have it painted metallic black and I spoke with them about the quality (aka how the paint job will hold up over a year's time) and it didn't help sway my decision one way or the other.
Anyone have any opinions on where to purchase a durable splitter from (preferably one in metallic black) and if not would you opt for the textured black based on the track record I experienced on my Z06 and, if so, what are the thoughts about gambling on getting the painted metallic black version?
These tend to be wear items, so I would suggest getting the cheapest unpainted one possible in anticipation of it inevitably biting the dust. If it's unpainted black it will be good enough. Only a perfectionist (you) will notice the difference from a nicer, painted item.

The Z06 Stage 1, aka, poverty splitter, is certainly cheaper and conceals small impacts better due to its textured matte black finish. I replaced it w/ACS’s Stage 3, painted in carbon flash metallic, and never had any issues with it. I wrapped the front, sides, and top with Xpel, and it’s in great condition.
You could always get a nicer splitter and plastic dip or wrap it for protection... but after all that I would just get the plastic "poverty" spiltter and not have to worry about it. If the cheap black texture bothers you then don't get it, however you know the fancy painted splitter is likely to see damage over time, especially on daily driver.
I had a splitter on my 2015 Stingray. I had It wrapped with XPEL. It was in great shape after about 15k. I sold that car and now I have a 19 GS. I did the same thing to this splitter. They have held up very well. No paint chips at all. The splitter can be covered right on the car..

Thanks for the input everyone! I think I am going to go with the cheaper "poverty" splitter (that was so funny!) Since its a daily driver and NO ONE in my life seems to be able to even tell the difference in the body styles of the Z06 and the Stingray anyway, as mentioned above,...I'm probably the only one who cares.
I am not going to lie , it was a pain in the butt but it was worth it as i don't have to have a funeral for my splitter if I should bump it by accident , I have a 15 with no front camera ...
I did this on my previous white Z51 just like you and it only took one bad day on the interstate with a careless dump truck that dropped light pebble on the road for about 10 miles and my splitter looked pretty beat up. . Didn't even know it was dropping anything until I caught up with it about 10 minutes later, Very nice BTW!

I would love to have a more aggressive splitter on my car, but the potential for damage entering my driveway and/or objects in road or rock chips resulted in me going with a poverty splitter. It still adds some to the looks of the car.
