Default C7 Cup Holder Insert that works!

The cup holder has been a sore subject for the C7. The REM Works LLC C7 Corvette Cup Holder Insert replaces the factory insert and it actually works! I've been using it for months and it has never come loose. It's the same height as the factory insert, so the cup holder door in the console can close with it installed just like stock. There are two versions, one with a little compartment that the key fob fits in and one without.

Bought the same. Pretty inexpensive and basic but hold drinks secure enough and prevent the wobbling.

Use the one "dent" in the console of the C5s for a few years and you'll love the C7's, straight from the factory!

I was quite skeptical of these working but for $10.95 I figure I'd give them a shot. I installed them right before my 3200 mile road trip which included several days of spirited driving the Tail of the Dragon and other similar roads. THESE HOLDERS WORK!!! Over the course of my road trip they held water bottles, fast food soft drink containers, and my insulated travel mug. All were held securely with zero mishaps. Since this is a copy of a GM part, I'm at a loss as to why GM didn't put them in the Corvette as standard equipment.

I have the same ones. They do hold bottles, pop cans, coffee cups, etc. very very well...but I find they hold too good as I always have to twist the the container out and sometimes the insert comes out with the beverage container.

Haven’t really had any problems with my factory cup holders, but may look into both of these. Sounds like they both will do a good job.

Thanks for sharing as this is perfect for my needs. A lot of time I put a bottle of water in one and my Fob in the other.

Someone, in another thread, put double stick tape to secure his in the hole. It solved his problem.

I also have these and they work great! I took a full bottle of Arrowhead Water (16.9 oz.) on a spirited drive down PCH with no wobble! Then I came back with a half bottle. The liquid in the bottle sloshed all around the inside of the bottle, the bottle did not move.

I also tried these. The problem with them is with the cups I use, they come out with the cup. And if you still only have the original cup holder insert, they will pull it out at least partially when they fit a cup tightly. That's a pain to deal with while driving! I found they they really only work well for the 16 oz. throw away water bottles. But for larger cups they are problematic. So my preference is th REM Works cup holder insert. If you like the rubber inserts for the 16 oz. water bottles, the rubber inserts fit perfectly in the REM Works insert as well. But they don't pull that insert out. Best of both worlds.

These were standard equipment in the C6, but GM deleted them in the C7.
Another one of those "WTF were they thinking?" things.
I used a 1" square piece of 3M double sided tape on the bottom of these in our C7 and they work fine, for the size cups/bottles we use. YMMV.

No

I purchased the one that holds the fob shortly after seeing this a couple weeks ago. It works fantastic 👍🏻

I designed and 3D printed my own solution. It just slips over the cover when it's open and works great.
Anyone who has access to a 3D printer here is the STL. Print in PETG (something high heat resistant). I'm also working on one that replaces the whole cup holder and lid.

Finally a real durable fix for the infamously horrible C7 cup holder! I refer to the REM Works C7 Corvette cup holder insert. It works great even for heavy, tall mugs. It doesn't reduce the cup holder opening size like the Stop Flop does. Sturdy construction too, unlike the the SF! My only suggestion is that it should be anchored securely to the car's cup holder with heavy-duty, double-sided foam tape. Of course, the loose rubber liner bottom must be removed. Then the rigid bottom of the car's cup holder must be thoroughly cleaned, first with soap and water, followed by alcohol. Then press down hard on the bottom of the holder to secure the foam tape between the Rem Works cup holder to car's cup holder.

You C7 Corvette owners; buy it! You'll love it!

I saw this thread yesterday, I ordered the insert in the OP last night, and it showed up today. It's great! Works like a champ.

Thanks for posting this!

El Phantasmo,

Which one did you buy; the Rem, or the one from Sandyeggo Design, which requires removal of the console?

If you bought the Rem insert, don't forget to anchor it as I described.
