Default Question about track mode dash

I have a 2018 Grand Sport with just about ever option. It’s a 2lt, has mag shocks and navigation. I don’t know if any of that has anything to do with my question, but I thought I’d throw it in there. My question is, when I have the dash in track mode, I can get three vertical gauges for oil, water temperature and oil pressure. I’ve seen pictures of the track mode dash with four vertical gauges, and don’t know how to get the forth or even if it is available on my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's typically for the transmission temperature. I'm going to assume your Grand Sport is a manual transmission vehicle?

No, it’s an A8. I have a transmission temperature gauge in the center when you toggle the up and down selecting buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

Huh. Color me confused, then. I have a 2019 Z06 A8. It shows all of the aforementioned temperatures that you mentioned along with transmission fluid temps. So, four items monitored, as you mentioned. Wish I could help you out a bit more than that.

I'll try to be gentle.

What DISPLAY mode are you in?

Once you have used the right steering wheel button to get to SETTINGS> TRACK. Use the left button to return to the MAIN menu. Then you can choose the INFO, (top) or PERFORMANCE (next one down), or one of the others... Select that, then you can use the down button to scroll through what's availible.

2019 M7. Display is in TRACK | PERFORMANCE. As you can see the right arrow on the screen is gray (not as bright as the left arrow) which indicates there are no user choices. IIRC this display was available beginning 2018 model year. Oil, water, transmission temps and oil pressure.

Some 2014/17 cars had an issue with a similar display where the 4th bar graph disappeared - there was a TSB to fix. Don't recall anyone mentioning a similar issue with 2018/19 MY.

This display is not available for 2017 GS. Is it something we can upgrade?

Setting the gauges in track mode:
start at about 6:12 into the video

Only Three Gauge display problem:
I have a 2017 and I (like many) have an issue where when in track mode and have the 4 gauges selected. If one of the 4 gauges I have selected is engine coolant temp - this reading will dissappear when i shut the car off for more than 15 minutes and restart. When I restart - the quadrant that showed the engine coolant temp will be blank and I am forced to reload it into the display. This only happens with the engine coolant temp value; should I select horsepower, there is no issue.

This is rectified by going to the dealer and asking for Instrument Cluster Update #2810195. I just found out about the solution a few days ago, and I hardly every drive with the car in track mode display setting.

And for what it's worth, the 2019 cars got an update to the layout of how the track mode displays look. I'm pretty sure this is not upgradable on 2018 and older C7

Here is what I am talking about 2019 only display:

My attorney from Valhalla has advised me to never, under any circumstance, even so much as entertain answering that question!

And you are very welcome my friend!

Not trying to step on the OP post, but again I must say thank you Loki! I'm going to the Glen this weekend and here is another opportunity to better tune my skills and use the advanced features. Between this post, Loki's traction control diagram and PDR, hopefully I can turn in some good runs, with the painted side up of course. LOL

Thank You Sir Loki

Just keep in mind that the MRC, steering, and exhaust function together when you have them linked to the drive mode. If you have them set indpendantly, they don't change..

Really? Wow, every post that I've seen about this states it was one of the things that the 2019's got over all other models. Not that it matters to me, I have a 2017 so I'm still out of the running, but I'm happy for the 2018/2019 crowd.

Still, if we can update the entire OS on a computer, we should be able to update a display on the info screen?...C'mon GM...YOU CAN DO IT!

I can't figure out why GM doesn't apply this update to all C7s. I understand hardware limitations for stuff like CarPlay, but what does that have do with taking the information already in the system and just showing / displaying it to us in a different way? Hopefully the C8 doesn't have limitations like this in the OS, seems very short sighted.

It is a nice display of a good deal of information.

I do not know what it would take to update earlier cars to include this display. It may be trickier and more involved than we think.
