Who wants to play a game?! So a piece of sheet metal was crossing the street (jaywalking, mind you) and I booped it. Any guesses on repair costs before I finally take it to get an estimate?
If you are way off on your guess, you win nothing. But if you're the closest without going over, you'll also win nothing. There are no winners here.
I'm assuming that is the front bumper cover. I have similar damage but it is smaller than that. I'm guessing $1500.00 from a quality body shop.
$688.22 LOL

I come out a little higher.
Fascia Retail Price is $580. Ordered from local dealer so shipping shouldn't be an issue. Body shop might be able to get the dealer to knock the price down to $400 which should still let the dealer make money.
4 Hours Labor at $120 per hour.
Painting (Labor and Supplies) $650.
So about $1710. $1530 if the body shop can get a price on the fascia from the dealer. Paying cash Vs having insurance pay usually lets you negotiate a lower price. If you have a high deductible it may be best not to involve the insurance. If the sheet metal was moving when you hit it the damage comes under the Comprehensive Policy and isn't an accident that will affect rates. If you have low deductible comp it may be better to let the insurance cover it, again, if the object was moving when you hit it. If it wasn't moving then it is covered under the Collision insurance and you could have a higher deductible along with the accident being chargeable and maybe raising your rates if the cost exceeds a certain amount. Paid for a few front fascias on my C5 due to stuff flying around on the highway and hitting it. A 5 gallon empty paint can tore my C5 front fascia about the same amount when I hit the thing at 65 mph.
They should not have to replace the bumper... but the most important question regarding cost is... areyou going through insurance? If yes they will “replace” a lot of parts to just jack up the price.
Nowhere south of $1,200. Probably more like $1,500.. Suck it up pay for it out of pocket, you don't want insurance involved. Be glad that the jakwalker didn't hit other parts of the car too...
$7.89 for a roll of duct tape, and you have a lot more left for future use !
Seriously,
Sorry for your terrible experience and Good Luck with the repairs !

It actually ping pong'd itself through traffic. I imagine I got off lightly compared to other cars. I have swervy room. The cars behind me did not.

Used this repair method on an old Smokin' Joe CBR F3 that I low-sided. Held up well enough to get me home! Still have that roll somewhere.
