Car won't start dash shows remote not found. take remote out of my pocket. same thing. dash shows place remote in steering column did that and car started right up. already late for work so I just drove it anyway. 2019 - could the remote battery be bad already? or do I have another issue? Don't use the button to lower the top but did buy the car used. Wonder if somewhere down the line one of the buttons was pushed and held down for an extended period of time to drain the battery. Lastly what battery do i need and will I have to reprogram it after I change it. Have the spare remote somewhere in my house
Certainly sounds like the fob battery. Replace with a new, fresh 2032. Avoid the brand with the textured back since it doesn't make as good electrical contact.
Batteries typically last 3 yr or so, but that's the average.
Replace the battery in your spare fob too - they tend to die at about the same time. Buy them from somewhere that sells a lot, so you know they're fresh. Avoid Amazon batteries even if brand name.
The programming is in the car, not the remote. so don't do it. Can't help and could make it worse.
Only other reasonable possibility is something in your pocket or in the car that is interfering with car/fob transmission.
Just replaced the batteries in both fobs. Car was doing all sorts of weird things. Sometimes they would work sometimes not. The only way I could unlock the doors was to first pop the trunk lid. Other times-nothing worked for a while then they would suddenly work fine later. Everything is now back to normal. .
Replaced the battery and all good. Finding the battery was an issue. Local grocery store sold out, Wal-Mart sold out, final stop Lowes but only available in a 6 pack. Did replace the battery in the spare as suggested.
You jinxed me. Today 9 months later went out to start car. No fob found. It was in my jean pocket. Placed in slot. Car started. Started next 3 times no problem
