So I found that my Z51 oil tank on my 2016 Vette was overfilled. I used a suction device to remove some oil. While doing so the end cap of the hose fell into the oil reservoir.
It went way down cant even see it. Does the top of the reservoir come off ? I see at least 6 bolts that seem to hold the top of the reservoir on. Yes I screwed up bad.
Can this tank be easily removed or just the top of the tank be removed ? Please any advise on how to retrieve this rubber cap will be greatly appreciated.
So I saw a post from another member that had this issue. He used a camera and a "crab grabber" I did not have a camera but did have a 4 foot crab grabber that has 4 claws on the end of the unit. I dug into the tank at least 10 times and really deep on the last attempt and guess what. I GOT IT without the help of a camera. Very, very lucky. So now that I did that dumb *** move I will never have any part of the engine open when I do anything under the hood. Thank you guys for your assistance.. The people on this forum are THE BEST !!!

Oh brother I feel for ya but great that it ended well.
I did that re-filling the rear diff on my Silverado truck one time. That gear oil gets pretty slippery and the clear tubing I had on the oil bottle slipped off and dropped right into the diff.
After getting a new gasket and popping the cover off I safety wired that tube to the nozzle for the re-fill.
Wow, you must have $hit a brick when that came out without the hose. Glad it worked out well for you . Go buy a lottery ticket and keep the streak going !

Great that you were able to get the cap out of the reservoir. I think at one time or another something like this happens to all of us - and it can be quite the stressful moment.
Let he who is without stones, cast the first soda bottle! Or words to affect. I was trying to replace my air filter a few weeks ago and dropped one of the bolts and could not see it. Geez on me. Went to Autozone and they lent me a camera. I was amazed at how many loaner tools they have, for greasy monkeys such as I!
