Default Extended Acc mode

Is there a way to keep the infotainment system playing for a long period of time in an Acc mode on the C7? Thinking of going to a drive-in movie and need more then the 10 minutes in Acc mode.

I am sure the anwser is in the forum somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Thanks

With your car turned off and your foot off the brake, press and hold the start button for 8-10 seconds. This will turn on Diagnostic mode which will enable your accessories indefinitely - or until the battery is dead. Press the start button again to go back to normal.

You will kill the battery.

I have done this a few times at the drive-in. I start the car during intermission and have not had any battery troubles. I gets you nervous, though, if it is a long movie!

A couple times I have thought to take along one of those small lithium battery boosters just in case, but never needed to use it.

If you are worried about the battery, hook up your battery maintainer while in SERVICE MODE. I've not had any issues with the battery when in service mode for a half hour or so when exploring NAV features.

Service Mode
This power mode is available for
service and diagnostics, and to
verify the proper operation of the
malfunction indicator lamp as may
be required for emission inspection
purposes. With the vehicle off, and
the brake pedal not applied,
pressing and holding ENGINE
START/STOP for more than
five seconds will place the vehicle in
Service Mode. The instruments and
audio systems will operate as they
do in ON/RUN, but the vehicle will
not be able to be driven. The engine
will not start in Service Mode. Press
ENGINE START/STOP again to turn
the vehicle off.

Why not bring some sort of battery powered radio?

On my 2017 model there is no need to put car into ACC mode or Service mode to keep the infotainment system on past the 10 minute or so mark.

All you need to do is get in the car and press and hold the power button for the infotainment system until the infotainment system turns on and it will stay on.

After I wash my car, I get in and start it and roll down the windows and shut it off, get out and let it go through it's power down procedure and then open the door and get in and press and hold the power button on the infotainment system until it powers on....it stays on all the time I am drying/detailing the car.

I can also walk up to my car after its been sitting get in and just press and hold the power button on the infotainment system and it will stay powered on until you turn it off.

At the drive in, I doubt you would want to have your dash all lit up by putting it into service mode.

I also, turn off the screen display while the infotainment system is running to help save the battery. The screen does not go completely dark, it does have a bit of the backlight showing at night, but it is better than having the infotainment screen all lit up.

My car is always unlocked for the infotainment system to be on. I am pretty sure that this is a standard feature on GM cars. I could do this with my 2012 Buick as well.

Good information about the infotainment power button. And turning off the display (using dash dimmer to the left of the steering wheel?).

I just checked and lowering the display turns it off, too, but the cubby light comes on. I didn't wait long enough to see if it would turn off after awhile.

^^^^ To turn off the display, go into

Settings
Display

Select turn off display.

Touching any buttons for the infotainment screen or the screen itself will turn the display back on.

I've never seen one of those lithium battery jumpers be able to jump a V8 just take jumper cables

The lithium jumper I got from Costco for about seventy bucks would start the 460 V8 in my old Ford when it's own battery wouldn't quite crank it. I doubt it would work with a completely dead battery but it did boost it enough to start a couple times. The booster only lasted a couple years before it would no longer hold its charge, though.

Thanks for that! It works on my 2014, too! No idea why I had not tried it before.

Nice, I've just never seen it in my experience. It would not jump my 1964 Chevelle SS with a 327 small block, and then I jumped it instantly with jumper cables.
