Just received my new to me 2017 Torch Red C7 corvette w/ 13000 miles. While I've been out of corvettes for a long time {owned a 1971 corvette when it was still modern} I'm not a newbie to LS engines. I have a built 2011 Camaro with 640RWHP that started out life as a L99 AFM. switched it to a LS3. Through the blur of buying my Corvette I missed the fact that my LT1 also has DOD lifters..Damn! Whats the track record on the LT1? I'm hoping they've improved them.
Most of the DOD issues that I have read about here have all been with the auto transmission cars. If you have a manual, probably won't have any problem with the AFM.
I've heard of very few lifter issues on the LT1 compared to the L76 that came in the old Pontiac G8 GT that I used to own. It seemed like I was regularly seeing failed lifters on the G8 forums. I have greater confidence in the reliability of the LT1 lifters.
