First launch control
I finally did my first launch yesterday and I must say what an experience !!
I did notice that when it went from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it backfired or popped each time between shifts ! I was not watching the rpm's but a car guy told me I hit the rev limiter . A8 auto . Anyone else's car done that and is this normal ?
3050 miles .

Mine does that at full throttle each shift (C7 A8) Always wondered why, but it sounds cool.

Its supposed to do that , the ECM shuts ignition off for a micro second during the shift , when the raw fuel hits the cats it pops ....

My 2016 with the A8 backfires between shifts at WOT in Sport mode. It is supposed to do that. Sounds great.

It's normal. My wife's Audi give you a big fart between 1st and 2nd when you stand on it. Google DSG fart for more than a few video examples.

The timing is retarded right at the shift, this reduces the torque load on the transmission and the diff and the stub axles. Helps with damage and in turn makes that "fart' noise.
