I bought this car a year ago, I don't know if the battery is original or not. Doesn't turn over slow...
FWIW - The first sign your battery is nearing the end of its life is often strange electrical gremlins and not how fast it spins your engine when starting.... ask me how I know...
Well the airbag warning has gone on and off for all these many months. Since my original post. Mostly it was off. Now it finally stayed on and I took it in. Dealer ordered the parts and added, "We don't know if this is going to fix the problem or not". Really? So if it doesn't fix the problem, that means another warranty deductible to me on another visit for this same problem? The service writer thinking she was reassuring me, said, "Oh, we'll test drive it to see of it stays off". I have pictures of this light going back to Sept 2020, off and on. Mostly off.
I called the warranty company, and that's exactly what AMT Warranty Corp, who handles the Chev Protection Plan, told me. $100 ded PER visit.
I'm thinking this isn't a common problem with C7's with the lack of replies to this thread. I hope that is the case.
I bought a 2014 back in January. My airbag light randomly came 3-4 weeks ago. The light is constantly on, and i get the service popup everytime i turn left.
I finally took it to the dealership a couple days ago, and they think it may be an issue with the steering column wiring harness. They need to keep the car a few days to get to that, so i'm planning on bringing it back to the dealer in the next week or two.
My issue might be different than yours, but i'll let you know what they find.

Well the dealership has now received the wrong part twice...from Michigan. So I picked up the car over the Memorial Day weekend, and told them to call me when they know they have the correct part. Their diagnosis says it's the passenger side harness.

Dealer has now replaced the passenger side airbag and harness...$1537.15. Ext Warr has $100/ded, so almost paid for itself. Fingers crossed that this fixes the problem...no guarantees according to dealer. Warning off for now...

incase anyone else stumbles across this, my issue ended up being the airbag coil in the steering wheel. Tech said it was an issue caused by a bad install job done when a previous owner replaced the steering wheel.

Thanks for the update. My 2016 just started doing this today.
