I recently bought the Hawk performance ceramic brakes for my C7 Z51. I installed them, but I believe I may have messed up. When I had the old Brembo brakes on when the disks would get wet they would have a rusty look from the metal particles rusting, but this would go away after the first use of the car. Now I think the pads are off alignment as you can see in the pictures the outer part of the disk is being rubbed more than the inner as the rust is not going away of the inner part of the disk. Any advice on how to fix this would be really appreciated.
Thank you Drivers side front wheel. Seems to be worse here. Passenger side front wheel.
It looks like the Driver’s Side may not be fully Bedded. From the photo, contact is being made closest to the hub, then there is a ‘no contact’ area followed by full contact to the outer edge. I recommend pulling the wheel and removing the outer pad for visual inspection. While you are looking, check the inside pad / contact area also. Question: Did you follow the recommended procedure for Bedding the new pads? If not, I would try that first.
Seems like on the 1st pic, the pad is not inserted all the way into the caliper. I might be inclined to remove the wheel and take a close look at that corner. Make sure that spring plate (front) is not in backwards or upside down.
Edit: I have those same pads on my Grand Sport and just went out to my garage to took a look at all 4 rotors. They look identical with no large gap on the inside.
Try wetting the rotors then let the rotor air dry so they rust again then go out re-bed the pads. Follow the recommended procedure indicated on the box the Hawk pads came with. If this does not work and the full rotor face still has rust like shown in your photos then pull the pads and inspect the pads. There should be full contact. Before you take the pads out of the caliper take pictures of both front brakes focusing on the caliper area and where you inserted the pads. Post up these pics here on the forum. They will also be good reference to have handy to show you the proper orientation of the pads when reinstalling as there are 2 ways to install the screecher. Also, show us the pad screecher orientation with respect to the caliper. I believe there is only 1 correct orientation to insert the pads correctly into the caliper.

I realize I never bedded them I wasn't aware of the process. I have already driven it a fair amount since installing them. Is it too late to do the bedding procedure now?

make sure that the springs are not upside down and that there is tension on the pins. Make sure that the pins are hammered In and secure. I have recently replaced my brakes with powerstops ceramic brakes. I believe that they were E26 They had the bedding instructions on the box. Definitely do the bedding procedures after checking that the springs are inserted correctly.

Should even out after some more use or as other's mentioned doing the bedding procedure.
Now a word of caution: I had Hawks before on my Nissan 350Z that didn't perfectly align. This caused a lip to form on the rotors which made a terrible noise and basically ruined the pad and rotors. These particulars Hawks required a slightly larger pin, when used with the stock pins the pads sat a touch too close to the hub. So just make 100% sure the new pads are exact the same size as the old ones including the alignment holes where the pins go.

Did the bedding procedure and now the rotors look perfect. Thank you everyone I had been trying to figure that out for a while.
