Default Jake Hood Stringer Decal

I had a vet in college and before I was married. But as life goes so did my vet. I am finally in a place where I am looking at picking up another one and looking at C7s (I want a manual, so not going C8). In my searching of all the normal sites, I have seen a few cars that interest me, but they have the Jake logo as a stringer on the hood. Obviously I have seen them for sale as an aftermarket add on, but if I remember correctly that was a factory option or at the very least a dealer option. My questions are:
1. Was that decal part of a specific package or just an independent option?
2. If I bought a car with the decal and decided I wanted to remove it, would the stringer still be black under it or is the black part of the decal?
3. Is it always just a surface decal or did some come from the factory and placed under the clear coat?

Thanks

It's an oem decal. Some have luck with them. I have not. You can order it online but from my experience I can tell you don't bother. I sent 2 of them back because they looked like they were smashed on the edges from being thrown around in a warehouse. The quality was not impressive for oem. This was from 2 separate oem vendors. On the other hand, there are also other vendors that make these and they do a very nice job. Vettestripes is one of them. Some have had them painted on and they look great. Just depends on what direction you want to take. But most are decals that can be removed from the hood if you buy a C7 with it installed already.

A car without a hood stinger has body color paint on the hood.

I agree with the above. If a car has the Jake decal on it, it should be able to be removed and the paint will be regular body color under it.

1) It was a stand alone $500 option

2 & 3) It is a decal placed on the already painted and clear coated hood. Under it is body color.
