No, the A6 is a very durable/reliable automatic transmission.

Welp, there is no way in hell you'll be able to hold the RPMs and out-shift the A6. It depends on what you want. You just went from how good is the A6 and that is "***** to the wall great" to a new topic of auto vs manual.

Here we go again, I expect this thread to be pounced on by the resident M7 fanatics in short order.

The A6 is a much more reliable and bulletproof transmission than the A8, and it can shift faster than you (or anyone) can shift an M7. Use the paddle shifters if you absolutely HAVE to play boy racer.

Well, your OP says,
is the a6 something to stay away from on a 14 c7?
Since the A6 was ONLY in the 14, and you point to the 14, there is no A8 to compare it to. The A8, after they figured out the issues, is a good transmission. I have the 14 and the A6 is rock solid and has performed perfectly.

So are we talking about the 14 and how good the A6 functions?
The M7 vs A8?
The A6 vs A8?

I don't have a clue what you are asking at this point. I think I'll simply let the other folks in here figure out the topic.

The A6 is a very good tranny that has proven to be very reliable over the years.

The A8 has had its share of problems but in Feb 2019 GM supposedly arrived at a fix. Time will tell how well the fix works but so far it looks promising.

Not sure just what else you want to know about either transmission.

Automatics on the newer Corvettes are undisputedly faster than manual, but do you want to just drive or do you want the visceral feel of banging thru the gears.. some just feel more "sporty" shifting manually.. up to you really.. test drive both types and see what you like better

OK, fair enough. One more point to consider in your comparison and that would be Z51 or not. The Z51 package gives a different gearing ration in the transmission. It is supposed to be quicker.
