Default Driver door armrest replacement

Can we replace just the armrest part? Or will I need a whole new door panel.

Over time, My elbow has damaged the internal structural integrity of the armrest. Plus, there are subtle cracks forming. It's my DD with 69,000 miles...not complaining, but I need to replace it soon.

Good question; my guess is it's all one piece, as most manufacturing has gone in that direction, replacing sub assemblies rather than parts but that's an absolute guess....good luck in finding out.

Not knowing what year car and trim code, can't answer your question completely , but looking at the picture found here, looks like the armrest is part of the door trim panel.

It appears like the arm rest is part of the door panel. They come up in the parts for sale section once in a while.

Could try that Corvette junk parts place. Can't recall where it is but might be less expensive than going new or looking from one yard to the next. Good luck!

Does anyone make a good quality "wrap" that would allow you to keep the original armrest and cover it with your desired color?

Like the center armrest this is one of those constant touch points that will wear over time so an aftermarket solution would be nice. While not being a separate part (?) I bet it could be recovered / refurbished. The armrest is surrounded by other bits that appear to allow the material to be tucked behind thus hiding any repair. Since the armrest comes in different colors from the factory there has to be a way to accomplish this.

They must be using substandard materials. I noticed this on my 2019 Stingray in less than 2000 miles. I've been training myself to keep my elbow off the armrest.

The surface has only recently begun showing cracks. Very subtle. Again, it's a 2015 and it's my DD...just shy of 70,000 miles now. The main problem is the frame/support beneath the armrest. It has definitely been compromised.

Whole new door panel is around 900 Benjamins. Yikes.

I have an extended warranty. I'll try to talk my way into getting that covered.

I looked om the GM Parts Center web site and they are around 5-6 Benjamins. If you decide to go the new route, go to your local Chevy dealer with the last 8 digits of your serial number and they'll look up the correct part number for your car, then you can order the correct one from any source that you may have.
