Default Air filter replacement

Just put my 2019 GS away for the winter, gonna need NYS Inspection , and air filter replacement. I have 10,000 miles on vehicle..What is best way to go...replace with OEM air filter or go with K & N , or other quality aftermarket filter. Also will this have any implications on factory warranty if I go w/aftermarket filter!. Thanks in advance for all your advice.

I recommend going with the OEM A3191C AC-Delco filter? Why not?
Manual recommends replacement @ 37,500 miles.

I was thinking of replacing with a performance filter like K&N...ANY BENEFITS .OTHER THAN GREATER COST> Also...didn't GM offer a performance air filtration package from the factory as an option during the C7 model years?

It did. You should be able to get and install GM's CAI at your local dealer.

TKO Attack Blue filter (I've owned on my previous C7, great quality)
BMS
Green Performance filter
AFE oiled or dry (I have the oiled on my Z06 now. Unlike other oiled filters, this one is not dripping with oil and coating your MAF sensor). For $80, it's a great product.

If you're concerned about the warranty, follow the Owner's Manual and drive on!

Go with the better K&N filter. Install it yourself too. There are instructive videos how to do this on YouTube. It's simple to do. According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, GM would have too prove that an after-market air filter cause damaged to your vehicle if they ever denied a claim. That would be pretty difficult to do. How many times have your heard anyone say an air filter killed my engine? Besides, many Corvette owners use after-market oil filters on their Corvettes. GM has acknowledged an has accepted this. Air filters are no different.

The OEM air filter works just fine, but nothing wrong with installing a K&N filter either. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

I use K&N (or similiar) filters (both oiled and dry) in 4 of 6 of my vehicles -- oiled ones in my BMW and F250 and dry ones in my MR2 and 911.

I don't put too much stock in the "performance" claims of using such filters (vs stock) and, IMO, the main advantage to using such filters is that you can just clean (reoil, if necessary) and reinstall them w/o the need to buy a new filter.

Don't have one in my MB ML350 or C7 yet. Didn't put one in my MB because it's a PITA to remove and I'd rather pay a shop to just replace it w/an OEM filter during normal service intervals.

Just bought my C7 a couple of months ago and from looking at some videos of replacing the air filter on the C7, it also looks like more trouble than it's worth for me to bother with and is something that I'd just let the shop replace w/an OEM filter when required.

Thank you all for your input!...It sure is easier to learn from other fellow Vette owners experiences on how to care for my Vette.

I run a K&N like I have on many of my previous (and current) vehicles. Does it give more performance? I doubt it, but I can clean and reinstall the filter as needed. The OEM filter costs about the same so the K&N comes out ahead long term. If you watch videos on the replacement its more involved then many cars but still easy enough that I wouldn't pay a dealer to do this task.

That discussion used to come up frequently when people wanted to put a different tune in their Corvette.
One lawyer, with experience in the field, said that a MM argument will get you exactly nowhere if you have changed something from the original specs and didn't get specific approval from the car maker to do so.
What actually happens is that if GM decides to deny a warranty claim involving a non-standard part, they just say "No".
You argue more and they still say No.
If you try to sue them, they'll bring out a bevy of their engineers who will explain all the evil things that could have happened from your mod, and they are the experts on your engine. You over-oiled the filter, or under-oiled it, or it just doesn't work properly. It's because they don't want to set a precedent that people can do mods and retain warranty coverage. Especially on those expensive engines.

Now, I've not heard of anyone getting denied warranty coverage because on a non-standard air filter. It probably wouldn't happen. You might get some support from your local BBB, or not.
But if you look at all the fuss people are (correctly) making about the bent/cracked wheels, and how many do indeed have the problem, and how well the legal system is working for them, you begin to see how it would work for one lonely owner by himself.
And the wheels are a totally stock part.

how much difference does an air filter make. engines are pumps so the variable to get more air in you have to reduce filtration. less filtration more dirt. How much hp on an untuned engine is the stock filter 'stealing' probably not much. You need about 10% increase in power to feel it. I suppose a less restrictive filter may yield something but nowhere near 10%. I know I am a car a guy and over the years it has become harder to individualize your ride. I feel it but to me changing the air filter is a big waste of time and money. I had a K&N on my supra TT big nothing although I recall you did hear the induction sound a bit better

OP: Why are you replacing air filter at 1 year and 10,000 miles?

All they do is increase the sound level of the sucking air and let finer particles into your engine. A waste of time and money.

I guess it's for the same reason I change the oil every year with only 4000 miles of use every year.
When I take it do dealer for inspection and oil change...when the service mgr comes and tells me I need to replace air filter...I thought that I would be prepared and have a good aftermarket quality air cleaner at my disposal.
Sounds insane...but for some reason they always seem to find a little something that is not covered under warranty

Personally I don't use the oiled cotton/gauze filters since I saw a couple of filtration comparisons. They do flow more air, but at a large cost in filtration. For me, the small increase in hp is more than offset by the large decrease in filtration. I like my engine a lot, my wallet too.

Hoping to see a filtration comparison between the Attack Blue and the stock filter.
