I was trying to find the answer to the accessory mode turning off after 10 minutes on my 2016 Z51 but wasn't sure how to search this out. In any event, I am going to the drive in movie theater for the first time with the car and don't want the radio to turn off every 10 minutes. Pretty sure this will aggravate my girl and I. I suppose one way around it would be to close the baffles on the exhaust and let it run nice and quiet, but I assume there is a way to keep the ACC mode on for the movies.
Turn off car and turn off infotainment system and then push and hold the power button in for the infotainment system until the infotainment system turns on and it will stay on.
You can also, turn off the screen display while the infotainment system is running to help save the battery. The screen does not go completely dark, it does have a bit of the backlight showing at night, but it is better than having the infotainment screen all lit up.
Settings Display Select turn off display.
Touching any buttons for the infotainment screen or the screen itself will turn the display back on.
Accessory mode is if you press the engine start button a second or 2 with your foot off the brake. This mode will expire in 10 minutes. It may expire if your leave your car I believe. Now, if you press the engine start switch and hold it for 10 seconds (with foot off brake pedal) then your are putting you car into diagnostic mode. This activates many more electrical components within your vehicle. This mode will not turn off in 10 minutes. The problem with this mode is it puts a large drain on your battery. If you left this mode on for a couple of hours you may not be able to start up your car as the battery has been drained. Ask me how I know.

That's interesting, I'll have to try it. Thanks.
But if I were going to watch a movie or two with the radio on, I'd want to have a set of jumper cables in the trunk...

Get out of your car, lock it with your fob. Wait for it to completely turn off and arm itself.
Now unlock car with your fob and get in car, wait for the dash as infotainment screen to cycle and turn off. Now press and hold power button for infotainment system until it turns on. Infotainment will stay on past 10 minutes. I have done this many times over the past months and it does work in my 2017. It also works in may GM cars since 2012. It works with my 2019 Regal.

just to clarify, are you saying that instead of pressing it once (which is what I do), keep it pressed for a few seconds?

Once you get in your car and shut the door wait for the instrument screen and infotainment screen to turn off........now only press the infotainment power button for a few seconds until the infotainment screen turns on.

I tested this today in my 2019 and like clockwork it shut off in ten minutes.
Hold the ignition button down for 10 seconds without pressing the brake or clutch pedal.
You do not want to use this mode for very long. It will drain down your battery rapidly from all the parasitic loads when in this mode. I know first hand. It happened to me. I had my 19 GS in this mode when in my garage. While I was in this mode checking through various settings on the information center I got a phone call on my landline. I went in my home and had a conversation with a family member for about an hour. After that I decided it was time for lunch. All the while I had forgotten I had left the car in the mode which you referred too. GM calls this diagnostic mode. When I went back to the garage I realized I had forgotten to turn off diagnostic mode and my car went wonky when I tried to start the vehicle. I could not get the vehicle started. I plugged in my charger and left it overnight and was able to start the vehicle next morning but I could tell the battery was still weak so I charged it for another 24 hours with my CTEK. I had read on the forum about 3 weeks ago is you should enter your vehicle and let everything settle down from the wake up. Wait for the navigation screen to come to rest and then just press and hold the radio power button for a full 10 seconds. I have not tried this yet myself but others have said this works.

Mine's a DD so battery is always fully charged - or, at least, almost so.... have used this feature many times - never had a problem with car restarting.... even after long periods of use....

I tried doing this while waxing the car. After 10 minutes the car shut down. Tried all of the various combinations and it still shut down. If you use Service Mode for any length of time you need to provide a charger to prevent the battery from running down. Basically, the car is doing everything except running the engine (which when running only consumes sufficient electrical power to run the fuel pump and the spark). So from an electrical consumption standpoint, it is pretty close to driving the car with a failed alternator, the battery will drop fast.
