I replaced the factory battery on my 2015 Z51 today, (6 years to the day. Battery was stamped 11-1-14), and when I first started it a fan motor began running. There was no air coming from my vents or on the heater/defroster either. Also, when I drove it, the fan speed increased as the vehicle speed did and slowed down as the car slowed down. When I killed the engine, the fan continued to run until I opened the door. What’s going on here?? Thanks for any info !!
Does your vehicle have seat heating/cooling? If yes, the seats have fans. Did you turn those off? When you installed the battery was it fully charged or did you charge it yourself before the install? What did the DIC say the charging voltage was while you were driving it? Was it normal voltage or did it seem a little high or low? I'm just trying to assess the condition of the battery. This could result in the fan cycling like you mention if the charging voltage was high (ie, low battery). If you have a battery maintainer hook it up tonight and leave it on overnight.
Low/ bad batteries have been know to cause electrical issues on these cars. Would it be possible the new battery was sitting on the shelf for a while and may be bad as well?
All is well after a trickle charge overnight. Thanks folks !!
That's great news! Get in a habit of using your maintainer every time you pull your vehicle in the garage. You'll prolong the life on your current battery.
